So I was just arguing with Mr. MG, a Republican (yeah, yeah, I know--otherwise he's a good guy--and he really didn't like McCain) about the election and Obama's merits. I wiped the floor with him on all points, BTW. Yay me, especially because usually I choke when I have to come up with points on the fly.
Anyway, finally he sighed and said, "It's gonna be a long eight years."
THAT'S RIGHT, BABY! EIGHT YEARS! :woohoo:

1. might be longer than that |
|
depending on how popular Obama is, there could be a call for a repeal of the 25th amendment (or whatever amendment it is granting the president two terms.)
Obama would be 55 after eight years, he could conceivably serve as long as FDR did, or longer, if he were allowed to.

2. Correct me if I'm wrong |

but if the 25th Amendment were repealed, it would not apply to the incumbent President - only to his/her successors. Even more unclear is the question of whether Barack Obama could leave office for four years and then get reelected in the absence of the 25th Amendment.
