Just watched my recording of fox on election night |
|
I was so hoping to see Hannity but the coward never showed up. I found it very strange that they didn't call Pa until arond 8:45 it seemed that call took almost all their hope away. They also had at 9pm jumped their electoral count to 200 and briefly said Obama won Ohio, but said that they misplaced a checkmark that should have been on Wisconsin. I noticed then their electoral cont went down 17 to 183???? then to 163. Then at 9:10 or so they called Ohio and the electoral count went back to 183. It wasn't until 10-15 minutes later they called Michigan to bring it back to the 200 at around 9:30pm. I just find it very strange about the timing of Michigan to be after Ohio and that Pa. took so long also.

2. i remember fox calling states for obama before anyone else was |
|
and i'm pretty sure my memory was right. they were being far less "conservative" with their reporting than the other major networks. i figured maybe they had decided that, since there was no way they could make their core viewers happy, they may as well be aggressive in trying to scoop the other networks on the electoral predictions.

Fox was most aggressive in calling states for Obama, then MSNBC, and CNN was the most conservative. I was streaming all three on my laptop.
I figured at the time that Fox wanted to start out on the right foot with the new Administration, just in case. They are, after all, an entertainment company first and a news company second. Their whole right-wing shtick is for ratings. If they start thinking they can get better ratings with a liberal slant, they'll switch in a heartbeat.

6. Maybe they did it to "panic" people in Western states who hadn't yet voted. |

5. Yup. They called Ohio like 20 minutes before anyone else. |
|
I was flipping through the channels when they called Ohio. I stopped, like ten seconds before, and then saw it. Freaked out. Danced. Screamed and then flipped to the other stations to see if they had, too.
They didn't.
