1. I think he's capable of closing Gitmo all on his own. |

2. Why would he need that? |
|
As of January 20th 2009 he'll be the decider, the commander-guy. He can close the place down with a word.

7. Justice versus making a vocal, unthinking minority unhappy. I'll take the former, thanks. |

Your mileage may vary, but if thats the case, U maybe isn't a good fit.

9. not going to argue with that... |
|
however, wouldn't it be better for somthing like this to go though w/ very liitle resistance... as a country we are all changing the way we fight the "war" on terror?

4. Mccain is finished. He embarrassed his party so has no power on his own (he never really did). |
|
So, and unequivocal "no" to that idea.

I know McCain as well as anyone on this board--I've been a constituent since he ran for Rep back in the day.
McCain is KAPUT. Done for. History. His party is embarrassed by him. He has no political capital left.
There's no need for McCcain to be consulted about anything. But your youthful eagerness is cute, I'll say that.

12. well, blame it on youth... |
|
but in my small little world here in NC i would hate to see obama lose what i saw him gain by becoming another decider. the last thing we need it another one.

15. why not keep the gloves on until the second term??? |
|
get enough repubs onboard for what you are trying to do, and you take away any ammunition.
i would just hate to see obama being labeled soft on terror and having to fight back on that.

16. "Soft on terror"? Did you really say that? LOL! |
|
His election advisors spanned the political compass and he's already talking big conservative guns for the cabinet.
When you run a opresidential campaign as an oppressed minority and win I'll make cerrain I advise you, too.
You'd go further if you wouldn't use the same kind of talking points we've heard used against Democrats for the last eight years. They've been soundly tested and neutralized right here over and over.

i see an opportunity here for obama to really be bipartisan. he puts a new court system in place on american soil w/o all proper backing and i see a potential for backlash. what happens if someone gets off on some kind of technicality in our court system? you don't think he will be blamed for that?

18. Of course some knuckle draggers will blame him. But McCain won't help--he's finished and the Rs have |
|
already forgotten him.
We may need some help across the aisle--but McCcain has proven that he not only is irrelevant, he also has no principles . That party is finished for now except for those who want to help get the country back--and there's enough of them with power thatObama has no need (notr do the republians) for a has-been like McCcain.
If you want to know how irrelevant McCain is, take it from a native Arizonan; the Rs here are DESPERATELY shopping for his replacement and the Ddems are already planning the next Senate campaign.
Their candidate will be facing Napolitano or Goddard and the Rs are peeing their pants over both.

... he's gonna call John McCain.
Doing something wrong is, perhaps, his one area of ineptitude.
