My take on the Joe Scarborough F-up...
...it's kind of sad to see a studio full of adults, people with salaries far higher than yours or mine, suddenly turn into a classroom full of fifth-graders when someone DARES to use profanity.

In principle, I am against firing people for swearing on cable TV--does anyone REALLY think children are watching this crap? Early morning on Monday? Frankly, I think Joe S. should just follow his bliss as the host of MSNBC's "Potty-mouth Pundit" Show, airing at 3:00 AM every Sunday. What do you think?

1. I think he was on thin ice, anyway.
I hope they can him, I really don't care the reason.

7. I am not sure.
They have some good anchors at MSNBC. Maybe they will bring one another leftie.

I read on another board that Joe said last week that he is for people being fined by the FCC for swearing....does anyone know if that's true? If so....HA!

3. Can you tell me briefly what happened?

All I see are partial threads, and I don't know what's a joke and what's real regarding some incident where Joe cussed or something.

9. From what I gather he was saying that Rahm's M.O. is dealing with people is to tell them...
"Fuck You". However, he didn't abbreviate or fudge the "Fuck" and it went out live.

Not sure why someone's finger wasn't on the magic button. Maybe they deliberately didn't hit it because they want Joe gone.

20. I'd be willing to have a "lapse of attention" to get Joe OUT, even if it meant my job too.
They call it "inattention", I call it "a public service."

6. His ratings are in the toilet, have been for awhile.

The execs will probably use this as an excuse to finally fire him.

Then Fox will probably hire him. It's where he belongs.

10. Scarborough led the lynch mob over the 2004 Janet Jackson halftime show
On his live MSNBC show this morning, former GOP Rep. Joe Scarborough used the phrase "fuck you" when discussing Obama's appointment of Rahm Emanuel:

I personally couldn't care any less about that. But Joe Scarborough, in the past, not only claimed to care about such things, but has been one of the most zealous crusaders against such awful filth on television.

Scarborough led the lynch mob over the 2004 Janet Jackson halftime show on CBS -- demanding that the FCC impose massive fines against CBS and MTV, among others -- and has railed against "rock stars" and entertainers who use, as he used to call it (before this morning), "the F word." Indeed, Scarborough even expressed outrage over the fact that the Government would even consider refraining from imposing substantial fines on ABC when Bono, on a live awards show, used the "F word."

Here is Scarborough, from his February 2, 2004 show -- after the Super Bowl show -- lambasting the FCC for allowing indecency over the airwaves and demanding that Michael Powell slam CBS with massive fines or be fired (while noting that the problem extended beyond this episode and was composed, at least equally, of the use of bad words):

11. He Needs To Get Over His Disdain for Rahm Emanuel
ever since he was named, Joe can't stop ragging on him.

Hey Joe, President Obama doesn't give a damn what you think!

if this didn't do it already.

13. I think he should pay the fine out of his own salary, but canning someone for one slip is to much
even Joe ScarTissue deserves to be treated fairly

14. I agree. He said it while referencing a story and it wasn't offensive at all.
I was actually disappointed because I assumed he had another on-air meltdown. No such luck though.

I would like to know why MSNBC has a live show that has numerous guests on it but no delay system to deal with these slip-ups.

23. Oh, that's fine.
I'm just not cheering for him to get canned because I don't like him and this would be a good opportunity. I agree that he should get the fine he suggested others should get, and he should pay it without complaint if that's how he feels. But it's not a fire-worthy offense. It's a reprimand at best.

We'd disagree mightily, but he's actually have an intelligent take.

24. No way, he's neo-con and evil. Don't let that FAUX southern charm fool you ...
Joe Scarborough is a dangerous ideologue - he's even more dangerous than Rush Limbaugh because some people (perhaps yourself) confuse him for a human being instead of a patriarchal hyena of the lowest order.

Morality wise? Behavior NOT talky talk = Joe's lower than whale shit. :nuke:
