Find out who donated to Obama & who donated to McCain in your town
Just enter the zip code in the appropriate box and don't forget to enter the code word at the bottom of the page. Or you can do a search by name if you want to make sure that you or someone else you're wondering about is listed.

2. Very interesting. Looks like our physicians donated to republicans, lawyers
donated to Democrats, and most small business owners to Democrats. You'd think doctors would be smarter than that...

6. Hmm--in my zipper, a lot of individual donation in the name of a big, local
high-tech and a sorta big, well-known as a republican friend internet hosting company (GoDaddy).

11. I haven't checked donations here but while making calls we got feedback
from "health care workers" that they were against Obama's health care plan. One man claimed that if Obama was elected, all the "health care workers" he knew planned to quit their jobs and find other careers.

He would not tell me what he meant by "health care workers" - when I asked if he meant physicians or nurses, he just repeated the "health care workers" meme.

I suspect that many people believed the socialized medicine claims and never got around to reading Obama's actual plans.

14. True, I didn't really think of it in those terms. I was thinking
since doctors have gotten screwed by the insurance companies, and also would want better healthcare coverage for all, they'd vote Dem.

23. I think there is as wide a spectrum of opinions among doctors & health care workers
As among any other group. Among the volunteers and voters I had contact with during the campaign, many were in healthcare all the way from doctors and nurses to aides and other low level support personnel. But there were those we canvassed who told me they were against Obama because of his healthcare proposals - but I thought that was odd since Obama has been careful to not go into details on most of his proposals.

Obama knows very well that any specific plan is more easily shot down in Congress than simply setting out broad outlines and letting Congress critters has out the fine points. In The Audacity of Hope, he said that the reason the Clinton healthcare plan failed was they were too explicit in exactly how they wanted it to be.

So I believe that some were just looking for an excuse to not vote for Obama. That way they didn't have to say they would not vote for a black person. Idiots.

3. Much information is missing from that database.
I've donated thousands of dollars to various candidates since 2002, and the only donation I made that shows up is one of mine to Al Franken.

5. I hate these things.
I don't like the fact that people can google me and find out what I donated and where I live.

7. Not many donations from my zip code for either candidate. However, since I didn't find
my own name, I have to wonder how complete this list is. I made my donations through DU. Would that make a difference?

20. That's one of the first things I look for.
I also do some checking up on friends, relatives, and acquaintances, hehe, like one of my cousins who I've always suspected of donating to Republicans. I checked on him, and he's actual a donor to Democrats, so I guess I was wrong about him.

9. It's got to be $200 or more in one contribution
I donated about $1200 to Obama, but in contributions of $50-$100 over time. I'm not on their database.

10. Noo..
That's not totally true because I never gave more then $100 in any quarter, but donated $600 total - and I AM on there. Odd.. i wonder what their criteria was.

13. Interesting
This area returns a Repuke to the state house all the time - most donations however are to Dems. None to McCrypt. Mostly to Obama and Joseph Biden (zip is in Delaware)

but maybe the last $100 hasn't been added yet or maybe they think I'm two different people?

19. Here's another site that shows donations less than $200. It's not up to date yet, though
but it is still good for a reference if you're looking at donations of anything made before the Fall of 2008. I'm sure it will be updated sometime in the future, so bookmark this one, even though it's not as up to date as the other site is. Plenty of smaller donations like $20 are listed on some of the areas I checked on this site:

from our entire town. Just one. A couple for Ron Paul but 10 pages all for Obama or Democrats. Yay!

18. kinda creepy if you ask me
I didn't donate $$ this cycle (due to loss of income) but I did donate my time.

I'm not sure if I would want my name on a list like that.

24. lol
Republican donations are few and far between in my zip code. I got a good laugh over Rendell being on the list. I live like 5 minutes away from him and he was on my call list twice for the Obama campaign (the listed number just goes to a generic Comcast directory, though. And yes I did call it, since I was determined to call every number on my list).

25. Wow.
So according to that site, a guy I know (still a student, senior in HIGH SCHOOL), made a donation of $1,300 to Barack Obama on 8/9/08.

But then it also says that the same kid donated "$-1,300" on 8/4/08. What's with the negative sign?

27. People use this data to try to scam people. If you're listed, be skeptical of phone solicitations.
