http://the-uptake.groups.theuptake.org/en/videogalleryView/id/1266/Coleman lead shrinks to 204 not including more Franken votes found in Ramsey Co. ReviewWill Al Franken be able to further close his 204 vote deficit on Senator Norm Coleman? A ballot review of Ramsey County going on in St. Paul this morning has turned up 4 more Franken votes that were missed in the election night count and has found one vote for Norm Coleman that was in error. So a 5 vote swing that has not yet been reflected in the Secretary of State website count
The ballots are being recounted, not as part of an anticipated state-wide recount in the US Senate race between Franken and Senator Norm Coleman, but as part of normal ballot review done after every election to determine if the ballot counting was accurate. But the sample recount could give us an indication of how the state-wide recount may go.
So far 3 of the 5 randomly selected precinctes have been recounted in Ramsey County. The results are:
St. Paul Ward 3 Precinct 13: + 1 vote for Franken
St. Paul Ward 6 Precinct 5 : + 2 votes for Franken, and a 1 vote loss for Coleman
St. Paul Ward 7 Precicnt 14: + 2 votes for Franken
Still to come is the recount of a Roseville precinct and St. Paul Ward 3 Precinct 5.
The UpTake's Tom Elko is observing the recount of one Ramsey County precinct and reports that of the people who failed to vote in the US Senate race about 88% voted for Barack Obama. Only about 1 out of every 9 voters who failed to vote in the US Senate race voted for John McCain. As of this morning Coleman leads in the race by a slim 204 votes out of nearly 2.9 million cast. That's down from a 221 vote margin on Friday.
