Palin: 'Open door' in 2012 or 2016
Palin waiting for crack in the door

Sarah Palin, in her first sit-down interview since the election, tells Fox's Greta Van Susteren tonight she's very much open to a presidential run, and hints that she may have gotten ahead of herself this year:

“You know, I have -- faith is a very big part of my life. And putting my life in my creator's hands -- this is what I always do. I'm like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I'm like, don't let me miss the open door. Show me where the open door is. Even if it's cracked up a little bit, maybe I'll plow right on through that and maybe prematurely plow through it, but don't let me miss an open door. And if there is an open door in '12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door.”

It's the sort of candor that takes me back full circle to this past February when, in an interview with Chris Cillizza, Palin was also frank about her ambition to be a player in national politics:

1. I wish she would go away,
but she's not going to.

2. nope...she's really sounding crazy.
God's going to open a door, or crack a door, either way she's going to plow through it. She's one nut case. She'll get the fundie votes...hopefully she and the other repugs will kill each other during their primaries.

6. She needs a sane person
like Mike Huckabee to "talk her down." :sarcasm:

14. Huckabee does make some sense, though
I spent the longest amount of time I ever did on Fox News when I found his show while flipping the channels... ok, the truth is I was a captive audience, sweating 500 calories on the elliptical at the gym and that was either that or a KOTH rerun.

I have to admit he made some sense, although I would not drink his kool aid, he did not sound like a kookoo person even if he does not believe in evolution, it does not mean he is completely dumb.

He was conciliatory and seem to be looking to reach across the line, which was refreshing, at least for this poor parody of a news channel.

16. I really agree with you.

If McCain was going after the fundie base, he would have been much wiser to choose Huckabee, who at least is likable. Hickabee doesn't have the MILF thing going on though.

3. I have found it is sometimes wise to shut up and take your losses.
Apparently Palin has never learned this important lesson. Her only open door has an exit sign above.

4. This is why I think she might go for Stevens's seat
Strategically, entering the Senate would probably be a mistake for her national ambitions, but the nature in which Stevens's seat could open would look awfully like God opening a door to a nut like Palin.

7. If you are a praying or meditating kind of person
please cast some thoughts our way this week while the vote counting goes on. I know Alaskans were fired up about this election. There's no way we didn't vote.

11. November 21 or 29, something like that.
They have a period of time before it has to be certified, which in a way is good. I'm assuming that a lot of checking and double-checking is going on, because everybody is aware of the possibility that some shenanigans might be going on, and they've been called on it. I really don't want this election stolen, so it must be closely monitored.

If Ted Stevens actually won this election and they can prove it to everyone's satisfaction, then I guess we'll just have to deal with whatever comes next, but many of us are very skeptical, and it's being watched closely.

9. Our country's experimentation
With letting the Religious Right influence policy decisions has finally come to an end, Sarah.

You'd have better luck landing a gig on some Fundy cable-access station co-hosting Bible Hour with Jan Crouch.

13. Sorry, hope your keyboard survives.
If you've never seen Jan Crouch, it's quite an experience. I had the fortunate pleasure (in a way I'm sure she didn't intend) of watching some of her Bible program years ago at the in-laws in Cincinnati during a Christmas visit after everyone went to bed. I was on the floor laughing so hard I was crying. Good stuff.

12. You know, I think you're right.
She troubles me, but if we can get her sequestered off in some little niche somewhere, we won't have to deal with her nuttiness.

I'm still astonished at how thoroughly she had so many rational, intelligent and progressive Alaskans fooled. I feel so .... used. She IS a barracuda.

15. She represents the last dying gasps of the Conservative movement.
They had their moment to shine during the Bush years. He was the one who was supposed to deliver the goods. Turns out, he was just using them for their cash and votes.

Palin, on the other hand, is so nutty that she turns off even the Independents.

And check out what's happening with Pat Robertson and and James Dobson and the scams they've been pulling for decades. They face dwindling membership numbers and the money has been running out for years. They're limping along on borrowed time.

Unlike Robertson and Dobson, Palin does not represent a "movement". She was merely a gimmick whose twinkling star-status continues to tarnish.

20. Good analysis
I agree and I think Palin's time has come and gone. The way Obama handled his campaign and ignored the culture war issues I believe will set the bar for future campaigning.

The whacko right is a dying breed.

18. Crouch/Jindal 2012!!
Between Bobby's faith-healing and Jan's make-up, they'd have the aging southern trailer trash televangelist crowd locked up

19. And they say Palin was the Republican party's last Hail Mary pass.
I think they'd qualify for the first reality-based series about the behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to run for the White House. Couldn't think of a better cast to be honored with this distinction.

17. Palin has completely outflanked Huckster and Magic Undies.
She's surpassed both of them in the all important areas of (1) appealing to their narrow religious beliefs, and (2) appealing to their hatred of all things different.

Huckster is completely done. Romney can fall back on the GOP Overlords who promised him that 2012 was HIS time.
