Barack and Michelle out for dinner in Chicago!
Edited on Tue Nov-11-08 12:53 AM by firedupdem

President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, spent three hours at Spiaggia restaurant on Saturday night, their first dinner out together since the election victory.

The four-star destination seems to be among their favorite spots for special occasions. That's where they spent their anniversary on Oct. 3 and Michelle Obama's birthday earlier this year.

"Yes, I can say they did dine here," said the woman who picked up the phone at the posh Italian restaurant on Sunday afternoon. "But other than that, we will not make any comment."

The Obamas left Spiaggia about 11 p.m. Saturday. Dressed in a dark suit and white shirt, Obama waved to an ecstatic crowd gathered across the street--which caused some watchers to cheer and hug each other.

1. I was so happy to see this....
... only a few hours before I was talking about how supersucky it would be if you were the President not to be able to hop in the car and go out to eat.

And there they were.

Granted, they won't be doing that much longer. But if I think it were me, I'd hijack and delivery truck and make a trip to the Taco Bell every now and then.

And Target.

20. Born in 1960 and never "got" the whole Kennedy appeal
People were obsessed with them, and I never got it.

Now I do.

9. Look at that picture, it's stunning...
These two people will be in the White House come late January.
We're in for a really BIG change, and it's coming very soon.

We must be diligent however.
They will hate this President like no other before him.
We must fight with him, because they are already plotting his exit from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

We must be strong.

18. You are correct
We shall have to be the ones to hold his feet to the fire, knowing always that he will not give us all of the progressive change we need. Just not possible. We shall also have to defend him against the attacks that we know are coming. I am ready to go to battle for this man, because I know he is ready to go to battle for us. For the first time in my life, I see the Presidency as a collaborative battle between people of the light and the forces of darkness. If that sounds too corny for some folks, pick up a newspaper or turn on the news and see what I'm talking about.

On January 20, 2009, the battle to save the soul of this nation is joined. See you all on the front line.

21.  I'm looking forward to seeing what she wears
She's tall and has to dress professionally (rather than young/hip), which I can relate to - she'll walk that line between stodgy and "Forever 21".

I like Michelle's hairstyle.

And that's how you look good in boots, unlike another boot-wearer who probably had to return hers to the RNC. :P

It's cool how so many people are on Obama-watch. I even get a kick out of seeing his motorcade arrive at an airport!
