Sarah Palin whines to the Anchorage Daily News that too much of the reportage on her record was "based on misinformation." An example?

But just looking into the record. It was reported that I tried to ban Harry Potter when it hadn't even been written when I was the mayor.

When I was in Wasilla to look into her record, I never found any evidence that Palin tried to ban Harry Potter from the local library (she seemed to be more concerned about a local pastor's book written for closeted gays).

But the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, was published in 1997.

Palin was mayor of Wasilla from 1996 to 2002. By the time her term of office expired, four of the Potter books had been published.

1. Sadly, she probably doesn't even recall the years she was mayor of Wasilla.

2. I believe the book she wanted to see about banning was
"Pastor, I Am Gay" by Howard H. Bess

This is yet another example of how Palin lies by omission and obfuscation. Was a Harry Potter title on her hit list? We do not know and therefore she can get away with calling it a silly rumour. However, when she defends herself, she doesn't mention Bess' book.

Bess lived in Mat-Su Valley. His book caused a lot of local controversy and only one store sold it until they were forced to remove it from their shelves by the fundy minions. Bess' book was a real, reportable incident and I would rather see her answer to whether or not she tried to get "Pastor I am Gay" banned from the public library.
