1. I'd like to see Caroline Kennedy at the UN, and Al Gore at Energy.

2. I really like seeing Zinni's name up there...

Didn't Rubin already decline a Treasury post?

5. Hopefully not Jack Reed
If he were to leave the Senate, the Republican Governor of Rhode Island would get to appoint a replacement.

6. Yeah, I'm not crazy about strip-mining the Senate either...
...even if replaced by Dem governors, a lot of institutional memory (and seniority) would be squandered.

7. Am I missing something?
I would have thought Dean would be somewhere on this list. I'd love to see Dean get "rewarded" for all his hard work and tireless efforts to revitalize the strength of the democratic party. I only put rewarded in quotes because I don't really see it as a political favor but a natural progression. He is a brilliant man and well deserving of a cabinet position, imho.

11. We absolutely need a Democrat in the Defense dept.
It would show we don't need the Republicans to babysit us on national security.

13. I dont' know....I think Hagel would be good in the position.
He was right on the most important national security issue of the past few years.

14. He's still a Republican.
I'd be fine with Hagel as a Deputy or Assistant Secretary, but we need a Democrat to run the Defense Department. The Republicans CANNOT have a monopoly on this shit anymore. I'm sick of just being the mommy party while the Republicans play the daddy.

15. Andy Rotherham, Samantha Power
Education

Andy Rotherham: Founder and director of the Education Sector think tank, member of the Virginia Board of Education, Clinton WH aide.

UN

Samantha Power: She's smart, gutsy, and articulate, and has done tremendous work keeping the issue of genocide in the public conscience. This would be the perfect place for her to continue her work.

And though it's been said, Howard Dean would be great at HHS.

16. No Senators as Cabinet members!
I'm getting tired of the media suggesting the removal of Democratic Senators to go into the Executive branch, which would then put a "Junior" Senator in their place with little or no influence. I also don't like pulling Democratic governors out either. Those Democratic governors are needed to be there (if their terms allow it) for the 2010 census and redistricting process.

I do agree with having Susan Rice as Secretary of State. Period. Her background is phenomenal and she is more than qualified.
