For Ritchie, keeping [MN Senate] recount nonpartisan is main goal
Source: Star Tribune

The recount of the closest U.S. Senate race in Minnesota history will be directed by a freshman elections chief -- a liberal DFLer who won election two years ago after accusing his Republican predecessor of bringing partisan bias to her official duties.

..."Minnesotans have an expectation of a nonpartisan election recount," Ritchie said late last week.

Yet a fight with partisan overtones is shaping up over the recount of the race between U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, a Republican, and Democrat Al Franken.

On Friday, the Coleman campaign questioned the integrity of the vote counting by citing "improbable shifts" in vote tallies that it said benefited Franken.

Ritchie responded by scolding the Coleman campaign for trying "to create a cloud" over the recount and "denigrating the election process."

As a Minnesotan, i truely believe Secretary of State Mark Ritchie will do everything in his power to keep the process fair.

1. There is no Secretary of State more dedicated to election integrity than Mark Ritchie.

Under his direction, I think all parties and candidates will get a fair shake.

And not only do you have one of the strongest Secretaries of State, but of all the states in the USA, Minnesota is one of the strongest in terms of your election laws and practices when it comes to how you count, audit, and recount your elections.

I hope everyone lets the process play out in MN without making unnecessary accusations or becoming partisan.

2. this really displays the need to be rid of repuke assholes like coleman
they have no integrity. win at any cost is acceptable. there is a stench of corruption on the current republican party and has been for some time.

coleman would be happy with a corrupt partisan republican recount but throws accusations at an obviously fair and open non-partisan process because it may not go his way.
