Re: All this B-S about Bush**'s being "gracious" at White House visit :
The White House is not the property of George and Laura Bush.
It is a custom to have the new president go there before inauguration.

2. Yeah, but there's a history of outgoing Presidents being total dicks to the newb.
Hoover was an ass to FDR, Truman was a dick to Eisenhower. Rumor has it that Clinton wasn't exactly welcoming to the current asshole.

Call a spade a spade - if Bush is being decent about the whole thing, give him credit for doing so. He doesn't exactly have to.

11. I read somewhere that Bush has been working on the transistion for a year now
Doing the necessary background checks for security clearance for the various front runners & their staff (I read it was 100 checks).

8. More like he can't wait to get out of a shitty job and enjoy his early retirement and entitlements.
To me it seems Jan 20 can't come fast enough for the Simian-in-Chief. Every time I see him now, I read that on his face. Its like he has to take a shit but can't find a bathroom.

4. I've always suspected that this administration will just refuse to leave.
Maybe the "graciousness" is all a ruse because they're not planning on going anywhere! They've already shredded the Constitution. I wouldn't be surprised if they made the coup official.

14. Yes, but the puppetmaster Cheney wants him there.
And the rest of their far-reaching power machine (the corporate interests that they serve) need Bush in office.

7. Yeah you are right, however the last transition we had was a bumpy ride.
And Bushco is, to their credit, (I can't believe I said that) seems to be working very hard to facilitate a smooth transition. The media and the White House remember that and seem bound and determined to avoid the mess of 2001.

Why? Well, I have a couple of theories as to their motivation, because I don't believe Bushco is honorable at all and doing this because they respect the office or the President-Elect. Simply because Bushco has shown a deliberate lack of respect to all things within their considerable umbrella of influence, so their sudden displays of respect to President-Elect Obama is very suspicious.

But, "why" doesn't really matter, the fact remains that Bush has rolled out the red carpet for Obama, and I'm satisfied with that.

10. In fairness to Bush, he has a very different team with him than he did 8 years ago
This is not a Rove, cut-throat operation any longer.

And, I think he really really really wants to go back to Texas.

12. I do believe he was gracious....
with the understanding that "gracious" is a relative term with Bush.

If he didn't have his finger stuck up his nose, wasn't asking Michele to "pull my finger", wasn't telling lameass Frat-boy jokes, and wore matching socks, he could probably be called "gracious".

17. It's Easy To Be Gracious When You've Sabotaged Your Opponent
And made no mistake: the Bush administration has done to this country and the incoming Obama administration what we did to the Soviets - forcing them to spend, spend, spend on one sector.
