Poll question: Should the Obama girls appear on the Hannah Montana Show?
This poll is inspired by the thread by mollymongold which points out that the Obama girls have been invited to appear on that show.

Do you want them to make an appearance on that dumbass show? yes or no

5. I care because the whole thing is meant to give Hannah even more publicity than she already has
When is enough enough?

13. Maybe the whole thing is meant to give the Obama girls a thrill
if she's an entertainer they look up to. Could be that simple, ya know.

4. Do they like the Hannah Montana show?
I just think if they did appear, it might seem like fun now, but 8 years from now when it's still being shown ad infinitum in re-runs on the Disney Channel, they might not think it's so cute any more.

6. Ugh. President-Elect and Michelle, please keep these girls out of media.
We need more Chelseas and Amys, not more Bush twins.

10. Amen
Besides, this is just way too quick, and it could be perceived as the Obama girls jumping on an opportunity to get attention. We wouldn't perceive them that way, but lots of people would. They just don't need this right now.

7. Where's the option
It's up to their parents.
If I trust Obama to be CIC and president etc- why not trust him to do the right thing by his children?

I know I wouldn't want to be in the Obamas' shoes right now on this issue. In their place I would say no to Hanna Montana but would I be able to withstand the pressure. Maybe Ms. Cyrus would come to the WH for a playday.

12. The yes or no in this poll is only to reflect whether or not YOU would like them on that show now.

9. managing their 'public' role is going to be a challenge
On the one hand, Barack and Michelle have made it clear that they intend to protect their children from the spotlight just as the Clintons sought to protect Chelsea and the Carters sought to protect Amy. However, there is a countervailing pressure: having two young children -- African American children -- in the white house carries with it powerful symbolism and a powerful image for similarly aged children of all races and genders.

I'm hoping that they are able to successfully navigate the competing pressures.

18.  How would Billy Ray Cyrus feel about it?
He was a big McCain supporter.

In fact, he's appearing in the Hannity "Freedom Concerts."

I would assume Miley would be of a similar political persuasion.

23. Miley is the grandaughter of popular Democratic Congessman Ron Cyrus
Ronald Ray “Ron” Cyrus was a popular Democratic politician and public servant in Greenup County, Kentucky. He was the father of American country music singer/actor Billy Ray Cyrus and the grandfather of actress/singer Miley Cyrus.

He was elected a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives for Kentucky's 98th Legislative District, which encompasses Greenup County, in 1975. He was elected to 11 consecutive terms--serving a total of 21 years--until he retired from office in 1996.

Cyrus served as executive secretary and treasurer of the AFL-CIO and was employed as a rigger with Armco Steel Ashland Works.
served in the United States Air Force in Japan. He served as founding Chairman of the Board of the Billy Ray Cyrus Charities Foundation and was a devoted member of Big Woods Community Church in Wellington, Kentucky.

Cyrus was 70 years old when he died on February 28, 2006. The song "I Miss You" by Miley Cyrus was written for him and is featured on her 2007 album Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The song "Hey Daddy" by Billy Ray Cyrus is also dedicated to him, on the album "Wanna Be Your Joe". Billy Ray sang this song to Ron Cyrus the night before his passing.

Of Course it's up to the Obama girls & their parents, as to whether or not they should appear. I think it would fun for the girls, but it's not my decision to make.

28. Yup
"publicity stunt" is just how this will be perceived if they did decide to appear on Hannah Montana. They just don't need that kind of publicity. I like your idea of going on a nature show, should they feel the need or desire to do something like that.

Possibly to play at one of the inaugural balls. I guess I can't see Obama going for his girls being on the show.

anyhow it's up o their parents obviously but i think it's a tad gross how fast those Cyrus people are jumping on the bandwagon.

After i saw that photo spread of her and her dad in Vanity Fair i almost threw up.
