It is better to face this reality now than on Jan 20th... Bush Pardons Will Be Extensive...
Bush's approval rating is the lowest of any President since they started keeping this record. He can't get a single publisher to pay him the standard millions for his memoirs. Everything is tanking and in a total mess.

THat is his legacy. It's not going to change.

He has absolutely no reason not to issue presidential pardons to everyone in his Administration who even remotely faces the prospect of criminal charges after Bush leaves office.

9. Gerald Ford set that precedent with Nixon.
Poppy repeated it with Iran/Contra criminals.

12. That's the idea.
Except Liddy did his time in prison and North's conviction was overturned on a technicality. More about Poppy's pardons here.

4. bushco pardon does not apply to world court
Giving everyone pardons will allow all sorts of corruption to be exposed. Many people will come forward. If we can't prosecute them in the court of law, the court of public opinion will have to do.

7. I predict he will resign on jan 19th so cheney can pardon him as well.
this will go unreported until after the inauguration.
oh and of course bush will have pardoned cheney right before this.

or maybe as a last FU to the country he will just pardon himself and challenge obama to call him on it.

10. silly childish dream...
Edited on Tue Nov-11-08 12:25 PM by 0955Forrest
Even IF and let's say IF an Obama administration ordered W taken into custody (I can't even believe I'm writing this it's so stupid) he would literally be guarded by a small army of Secret Service and the Texas NG/DPS officers.

It would take a US Army battalion to take him into custody. It would probably LITERALLY start a second civil war. Texas ANG would probably shoot down Fed aircraft participating in a raid.

stupidity.

You don't think the secret service and ng people would listen to the President?

17. No, it wouldn't. The Secret Service's job is to protect the President from threats, not warrants.
And Perry isn't going to sic any Texas NG units on Federal officers. Spend a little less time with the XBox and a bit more in the real world, dude.

Like as not, Bush would flee to a country with no extradition treaties before any warrants could be issued. If warrants ever were issued and executed, I suppose a Secret Service detail would have to go with him to The Hague. What a job!

20. Bush has already pardoned 157 people.
I suspect that number will jump right before he leaves office.
