As we all know, the Office of the President Elect was created by federal legislation in 1963.
What most people don't know is where the current Office of the President Elect is located.
Today, on a walk through the loop as I do many days during my lunch break, I walked past a favorite haunt, Federal Plaza. Federal Plaza holds special political meaning for me as it was the place where I first heard an Illinois State Senator speak out against the coming war in Iraq. Today, as I went past the
Kluczynski Federal Building, I couldn't help but notice the amber alerts not allowing any trucks within two blocks of the building. The building itself is surrounded by a vast array of federal vehicles, homeland security trucks, and Chicago police cars. Officers are at each corner and all four networks are filming within eye shot of the building.
It seems, the Office of the President Elect is located in the Kluczynski Federal Building. The Bush administration is doing everything to insure the transition is accommodated.
Talk about feeling like I had come full circle!
