2. I heard she's on the short list, along with Jesse Jackson, Jr.
Either would be cool with me.

22. There's a great story
In 2000, Obama flew out to Los Angeles for the Democratic National Convention. He couldn't score any floor passes. Understandably frustrated, he went home early.

Eight years later, he's President of the United States.

Anyone who says a single election is the be all and end all of someone's political career needs to remember this. And if you are getting dissed by the local party windbags, remember that obscure state legislator from Chicago who couldn't get a floor pass to the Staples Center.

23. Yes, I recall that... isn't that from his book?
Not sure where I read that before.

Quite a story. I hope this nation has 100 OTHER Obama's out there, not holding major elective office, maybe they got into Denver's stadium this year, after all, there were 80,000 who did!!!

I want to see 100 Obama's in 2016, or 2020.......... America MUST HAVE that many bright men and women ready to lead in 8 to 12 years!!

24. It's in his book
Not long before the book came out, I had ended a brief and smashingly unsuccessful campaign for the Democratic nomination in NH-01. I was a bit of a wreck, emotionally and politically, so reading that did lift my spirits just a bit.

30. There were 4 of us
Carol Shea-Porter, who ultimately won the seat.

Jim Craig, the DCCC "chosen one".

Me (Peter Sullivan). a then-state representative; withdrew in July '06.

Gary Dodds, who imploded after staging an auto accident.

16. Exactly.
Tammy Duckworth has no political qualifications and didn't even live in the district she was running to represent. Her primary selling point in 2004 seemed to be that she had lost her legs in Iraq.

If that isn't the most cynical bullshit, Democrats-trying-to-be-Republicans ploy, then I don't know what is.

18. Tammy lost a congressional race but there were amazing dirty tricks being played
including robocalls from her opponent at 4am saying they were from the Duckworth campaign. I canvassed a little for Tammy in '06 it was ugly.

cheated, and maligned. And yet she came close to winning in her first run for elective office, didn't she?

She is gold in our bank vaults, EVEN IF she is passed over, or chooses to stay where she is.......she could be Governor, or any other post she wants, in 10 yrs, including Prez. My opinion!

What the real trip THAT would BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A woman President, and a person with a disability, and a Veteran, as President
