'She's like Sanjayah': Why won't Sarah Palin go away?
By David Neiwert Tuesday Nov 11, 2008 5:00pm

http://crooksandliars.com/

On MSNBC this afternoon Chris Kofinis delivers the whammy on Sarah Palin and how she actually is a gift who keeps on giving to Democrats:

Kofinis: Sarah Palin is like that crazy relative who comes over and doesn't want to leave. She just seemingly does not want to leave the limelight. You know, maybe a better way to put it, one of my friends said, 'You know, she's like Sanjayah from American Idol. When is the fifteen minutes gonna be up?'

Of course, Republican strategist Ron Christie gives us the answer -- to wit, the wingnut core of the Republican Party sees her as their once and future leader, when Kofinis observes that "voters decided on Tuesday" that Palin wasn't qualified:

Christie: Voters did not decide that on Tuesday. It was a very close election. I mean -- 52 percent, you can't say that he had a mandate. The Republican Party needs to attract more people like Governor Palin, who are outside of the Beltway, who hold firm conservative values.

... I think the United States of America is still a center-right country. It is not a center-left country, despite what Chris Kofinis might think. This is still a very conservative country, a very pro-family country, pro-religion, pro-country -- that's where Sarah Palin. What the Republicans failed to do -- and this is why we lost -- we failed to articulate a message of why we were the party for limited government, small taxes, and keeping government out of our sights, and that's why we lost.

Kofinis: With all due respect, if that's -- I keep hearing this from Republicans. I hope you keep doing this. You keep talking about going back to conservative principles. You keep talking about going back to Reagan. If that's the strategy or philosophy that you think is gonna resurrect the Republican Party, I suggest putting Dr. Kevorkian as the head of the RNC, because it's a suicide mission. It will not succeed. Personally, I love it.

Christie winds up by promising to "smoke you guys in the next election." 'Tis good for a low mordant chortle or two.

We need to educate people. If we don't use the Obama presidency to develop an understanding of progressive issues, the Republicans will just up the ante next time.

27. Which is why we won so many senate seats in 4 years, running moderates
I'd gladly face an army of ultra conservatives, keep on coming republicans, the more conservative the better. :)

I mean your last ultra conservatives you chose over moderates, like Gilmore in Virginia, and I forget his name in New Mexico, got murdered in the general election! Of course that obviously means that the people were pissed off you didn't offer them an even bigger firebrand conservative!

I love watching the republicans keep suggesting they run more candidates who conservatives, like those who already vote for republicans, will love, completely ignoring the independent moderates.

The moment a party moves too far off into one extreme end of the political spectrum they doom themselves to failure, it works every time.

46. 53-46 is not 52-48. Plus
when about 90% of white voters in many southern states (AL, MS, AR, LA, TN, KY) voted for McCain, it means everyone but Confederacy diehards went about 60-40 for Obama. The Rs got their little enclave of white racism and old pickup trucks on bricks in the front yard. The rest of the country was landslide D (my apologies to any of you more sophisticated of the 90% of white Alabama voters who voted for McCain but do not have a truck on bricks).

9. I hate Christie
Yeah, a seven point win and 365 electoral votes is a fucking mandate Ron. And let's not forget to mention that we gained 22 seats in the House and at least 6 in the Senate. The Republicans were falling all over themselves to claim that Bush got a mandate in 2004.

The Republican party in Virginia has repeatedly tried to implement a strategy of being more conservative and it has only resulted in them losing the state senate, both U.S. senate seats, three congressional seats and the governorship twice in a row. I hope the national party follows suit.

12. Screw that 52%, states changed from red to blue.
That's the election number that Christy should be concerned with.

I don't think that means we're staying to the right. It also isn't a sign that you're "not getting your message out".

It means it's been rejected.

14. Pro-family, pro-country...these are exclusively the provinence of
the Repukes? That shows they don't get it. That is the type of crap that cost them the election. As for pro-religion...well, they also proved in this election that they are only pro-religion if it's the "right" religion.

I think the public is seeing all the problems out there, and the only one trying to deal with them is Obama. The Repukes seem to only be focusing on the next election.

She's a dominionist demagogue who lusts
for the power and money in Washington.

Her publicity campaign at the NRC so soon
after the election is proof that she will
not be content until she gets the nomination
in 2012 by guile or intimidation.

26. The GOP got blasted in the 2006 and 2008 elections for being so narrow-minded on the issues.
They think that religion, abortion, and taxes are all people care about.

When the focus is jobs, health care, the environment, and privacy, they don't have anything to offer.

32. Ron Christie an Aide to Vice President Cheney compared his service to a VET
On this evening’s Hardball, Ron Christie, a former aide to Vice President Cheney, equated his work in the White House to serving in Iraq. While debating Iraq war veteran Jon Soltz, Christie said to Soltz, “I am pleased and honored by the fact that you chose to wear the uniform of this country, but I also chose to serve this country, and I’ve been involved in public service serving the United States and the American people.” “Unlike you Jon,” he continued, “I’ve actually sat in the Oval Office.”

McCrypt got steam rolled! what a fuckwit!

I wll do what ever I can keep repukes out of the White House and that they remain the minority party.

"we failed to articulate a message of why we were the party for limited government, small taxes, and keeping government out of our sights, and that's why we lost." Really, in the last 8 years, that seemed to fail and rather miserably I might add. The Government has a responsibility to us and it is to be seen and heard as well as yelled at for doing stupid shit.

There is no going back....The progress, I hope the Obama/Biden administration makes, will be concrete by 2012.

rememeber kids: republicans are Social Dominist, Authoritarian protofascist. DO NOT, EVER, give them any more control of our Government.
