Obama Campaign Donates Computers and Equipment to Schools

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that students in the Sto-Rox School District are getting a nice surprise. With the election of course over, the Obama campaign is donating the left-over equipment to people who can really use it.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08317/927129-181.stm">Story:

Word spread quickly last week through Sto-Rox High School when students learned that the administrative offices were filled with Barack Obama paraphernalia.

Students snapped up posters and stickers for their lockers, backpacks and bedroom walls, eager to commemorate the victory of the first African American to ascend to the nation's highest office.

The enthusiasm excited administrators, but it's not what brought tears to the eyes of Jean Schmalzreid, the district's director of federal programs and special projects. That happened when she saw school facilities workers bring in dolly after dolly piled high with thousands of dollars worth of supplies donated from Obama campaign offices in Pittsburgh.

Six computers will be dedicated to creating learning centers for struggling middle school students. An all-in-one printer, copier and fax machine will hum all day in the middle school library. And the art department received piles of markers, paint and poster board.

The donations are in conjunction with an organization called http://iloveschools.com/">I Love Schools, a Web site that helps connect teachers with organizations that donate school supplies.

The I Love Schools, Inc. mission is to help America's school teachers find sorely needed school equipment, materials and supplies they cannot obtain through normal channels. The average teacher registered on this website spends over $659 out-of-pocket buying these items. We would be hard-pressed to find another group of people who consistently takes money out of their own after-tax paychecks and purchases items for their employer. Teachers have been doing it for years. Nationwide, State and Federal budget constraints have made things even tougher.

Now, America's school teachers have iLoveSchools.com. We are one of many routes a teacher can take to find classroom resources - without having to spend a penny. iLoveSchools.com is a web-based matchmaking tool, where teachers and donors communicate with each other to get sometimes critically needed items into the classrooms.

Once a teacher registers on iLoveSchools.com we do our best to find donors who can contribute the needed items, new or used. Many unneeded items have found a great home in a classroom. Teachers across the country have experienced the concern and generosity of Americans who have discovered their needs through iLoveSchools.com and have responded with enthusiasm.

100% of a donor's gift goes directly to the teacher of their choice.

Of course, I look forward to hearing what organization http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/2008/11/when_will_sarah_palins_clothes.html">Sarah Palin's clothes will go to. I do have one concern about the Obama Campaign's generosity: How exactly will the GOP attack them for this. Poll time.

Poll

How will this good deed be punished?

It will be attacked as socialism

It will be attacked as communism

It will be attacked at Marxist

Redistributionist!

The failure to resell these items shows that Obama will be wasteful with the budget

4. I don't care how people view it in the press. As for me, I'm thrilled.
It's really a beautiful thing to see our money go to such a worthy cause.. first in electing President Obama, and then to helping schools that really need the help. Is is possible this man is going to leave office with a 90% approval rating and many wishing for another 4 years.

6. Do the right thing
I met so many good people volunteering for Obama. Our group repainted our donated office space before we left.
The young people are already meeting, and planning to keep up the Omentum. Proud community organizers.
