If Palin ran on cleaning up Alaska... |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 09:10 AM by cooolandrew
Then surely the re-election of Stevens is an epic fail. In what instance do her supporters feel this would translate to DC as a positive thing. Clearly she would support and encourage it. Palin should of at least come out and told Stevens to step down. However many fireside interviews doesn't cover the trail of corruption in her wake. In 2012 all we need do is run ads on this one loop, and a 2nd term is in the bag.

1. Not a Palin fan, but how is she responsible for how the citizens voted? |
|
She took a somewhat weak stand that Stevens should not run once he was convicted. But if the voters want to be idiots, they can be idiots.
Hell, we elected a dead guy in Missouri.

4. We've also never asked William Jefferson to step down |
|
I find it hard to hold politicians responsible for the position of the voters.

3. Palin could of spoke more strongly against his re-election, for a start or asked him to retire.> |

This is what she ran on, it doesn't look good on anyones record that a crook got re-elected in her state. It doesn't leave the impression she cleaned up the state and as governor she does have some responsibility to put across that value to alaskan citizens too. Which she must not of done. I think we all know if Barack was governor of Illinois and he had run on cleaning up that state they wouold of made hay with that had something similar happened there.

5. Honest question: Would you have asked a Dem Senator to drop out in this situation? |
|
I would have voted for the Dem and asked for his resignation afterwards to secure the seat.

step down or what credibility would a person have? Admittedly not ever going to be in that position but that's how I'd call it from this view point.

7. I don't think it's corrupt necessarily |

Maybe it's the West Virginian in me; we vote for known criminals all the time.

but I just feel Palin could of lived to her word if that is the platform she is running on and called for him to resign. Everyone welcome to disagree.

I think now the smart thing is to let it play out.
If he gets in, the Senate can expel him.
And then Alaska votes in a new Republican.
