Poll question: Philip J. Berg--calculating fearmonger or true believer nutjob?
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 03:38 PM by Bicoastal
Why IS this guy going out of his way to claim Barack Obama is (an illegal alien, born in Kenya, an Indonesian citizen, Muslim, not technically "black," someone else's son--take your pick!)

2. He's convinced himself that he truly believes that Obama cannot legally
become president so he can continue to deny to himself that he is racist and afraid of blacks. I'm convinced of it.

THey are talking themselves into a frenzy.

I fully expect my sister to strap a bomb on and go blow up a voter registration drive any day now.

8. The scary thing is he's not a RW....
Mind you, he's certainly become buddy-buddy with them, but he was a very disgruntled Clinton supporter who spent the primaries penning letters demanding Obama drop out of the race. He also used to be a Democratic party official in his area.

Nutcase, yes, the RW sees him as a useful idiot than a fellow traveler......

5. Phillip Berg is kind of a wack job - but I don't believe he's a racist.
He's a conspiracy-obsessed guy who actually turned against the suburban Philadelphia Republican machine, his brother's a federal judge who no longer speaks to him.

6. Other -- He's just a friggin' loony. {nt}
You should read up on some of his antics when he was a part of the 911 twoofers squad and before.

Frivolous and completely moronic lawsuits is the only thing he does.

7. None of the above. He is a con man who found eager marks
Notice how the majority of his postings are accompanied for requests for donations.

9. Both
I've been dealing with New Hampshire's version of Philip Berg. Joe Kelly Levasseur is an attorney and pizza shop owner who served one term on Manchester's board of aldermen but has since been trounced in a string of races for alderman, school board, mayor, and state senate. He goes on cable television and spews the most toxic nonsense he can think of against his political opponents. I honestly believe that he sometimes forgets what is real and what he made up out of thin air. Oh, and he was a big McCain supporter and Obama basher. Big surprise.

Berg strikes me as a similar character, a guy who tries to get his way by threatening bogus (but nonetheless costly and stressful) legal proceedings against his opponents. These assholes need to have their law licenses stripped. Unfortunately, taking action against these jokers opens you up to a renewed blast of litigation and public defamation, so most people decide it isn't worth the headache.
