1. Sorry to be pessimistic, but Creigh Deeds was behind by 200 votes
in the 2006 VA AG race and the recount didn't change it enough to matter.

3. Most of the undervotes are from Obama territory.
I think Franken will eke out a victory, though Coleman may dispute it.

9. Virginia recounts are a different story. They are mostly electronic voting machines so a recount
doesn't change a whole lot.

4. Yes, after Franken sues Coleman to stop the intimidation
of the said officials doing the counting.

Coleman said he's sending out "120 lawyers" - they should be nowhere near the officials. They can challenge it, and then leave the room while they finish the count.

5. The governor of MN is a Republican. I doubt he will let it happen
Unless the extra votes needed to put Al Franken over the top are so public and
so convincing as to risk prosecution by the new Attorney General by "re-selecting"
Coleman, whoever the new AG might be, I think Pawlenty will do his utmost to deliver
the seat for Coleman.

8. The Secretary of State is a Democrat, and that's what matters.
Pawlenty can't do anything for Coleman.

Mark Ritchie, on the other hand, can do a lot to help Franken.

12. Let's hope so
I'll believe it when Franken is sworn in on the Senate Floor in January, not before.

11. Where is the
I don't give a shit column?

I had the "pleasure" of meeting Franken when he came here - he was obnoxious and rude. He treated everyone around him like they were beneath him. Not one ounce of warmth came from him.

I have worked with people far more famous than Franken and none of them were as obnoxious as him. Most of the well known people I have met and worked with went out of their way to be nice.. Franken didn't even try to be human much less "nice."

I did not wish the guy anything bad in his run for the senate. Having a Democrat in office is good... but on a personal level? I would not walk across the street to see the guy.

When you treat people the way I saw him treating people it gets around - If he had thought I was someone who could have benefited his career, he would have been nicer - in other words he was a smug individual who lacked the ability to connect - In my opinion, for what it's worth... that is why the vote is so close in a state he should have won.

18. He was in town
doing his radio show live here - No warmth and rude prior to going on during Stacy Taylor's show - acted like a true "diva."

Pretty much everyone who dealt with him here had the same reaction.

Maybe it was the nice, sunny weather?

21. Franken may not have kissed your asses
But I've always found him to be perfectly pleasant, if a little ascerbic. He also has the right positions on ALL the issues that matter...worlds better than Coleman. If you don't give a shit, you're fucking clueless.

23. When I met him he was extremely nice. We were told that he would sign our books but that
we couldn't take pictures or talk to him for too long becuase of the long line of people. When it was our turn he took 2 photos with my friend and I (didn't seem like he was in a hurry) and I even got to talk to him a little bit.

provide proof of who you are and that you live in the precinct, you may vote with a regular ballot.

15. With volunteer help in observing the count, yes (i hope)
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7854087

Thread shows Franken campaign needs volunteers to be present at each precinct for the handcounts. Volunteering would include training the weekend before and need to be present throughout the recount. Not clear if a person could be trained mid-week to cover later days.

I do find the 'newer voters might have made intent clear but messed up ballot' argument valid enough that hand recount should favor Al Franken. I also think Norm Coleman's psycholegal freakout shows he's worried and wants to Katherine Harris it.
