Why are Bush and Cheney so desperate for a Columbia Free Trade Agreement?

Why are Bush and Cheney so desperate for a Columbia Free Trade Agreement?
I find it very suspicious that Bush and Co are so desperate to get a free trade agreement with Columbia done. They are willing to help the auto industry but ONLY if they get the Columbia deal done. Does anyone know why they are trying so hard to get this done? It's really weird.

from south america thru mexico and then up to canada
