I think that Obama's appointees should be selected for their skills
and experience, not for their ideology and affinity. Obama will have to hit the ground running. There are too many problems - mostly the economy - and no matter what federal officials have been throwing there, nothing helps.

Same for decisions making. As much as I would like to have many Bush's policies and directives reversed, I hope that Obama and his aids do not spend too much time on them. The only issues that matter now are the economy, the economy, and the economy.

This is an uphill battle. I have no idea what else can be done but I hope that he and his aids have a better idea. And, don't forget. November 2010 will be here faster than what we think. And, traditionally, the party in power loses seats in the mid term elections.

2. Obama is fully capable of multi-tasking.

No reason he can't reverse Bush's stuff and STILL work on the economy.

3. What a unique concept. Hiring people for their skills and
experience. Too bad the Bushistas couldn't do that.

6. That's what I was thinking. How sad that such a statement would seem necessary. n/t

7. To be honest, Clinton did not start exactly that way
Not to start another flame war, but he ran as a centrist and started with two topics that created a lot of noise: gays in the military and universal health care. Some say - I don't know - that this was part of the major defeat in 1994.

Today, of course, many top commanders express their need for gays who have been invaluable in Iraq. And today the AMA runs ads expressing concerns that so many Americans lack access to health care. Even the infamous "Harry and Louise" were back, this time expressing a similar concern.

Also, he (or was it Hillary?) was determined to have a woman as the Attorney General and Janet Reno was the third hit, after the first two had problems with nanny tax.

Obama, of course, has a real mandate, having won more than 50% of the votes, but the problems facing him are huge that no one can see an end to them. So concentrating on skills - and showing this - will help his administration and will get many voters behind him.

It is a given, of course, that many who worked hard for him during the primaries are going to be disappointed. No one can be everything for everyone and he was such a unique - dare I say "fresh"? - phenomenon that many projected their hopes on him.

4. I think that Obama will hit the ground running on this economy issue..
the more unfortunate part is that it's going to take some time to turn it around.

5. I'm pretty impressed by his economic advisors so far.
You've got to hand it to them for reading and understanding that 700 billion dollar, insane f-ing piece of crap bailout and helping him to vote the proper way. I sure hope the rest of his team doesn't have their heads up their asses too!
