Are there people in Alaska working to get Sarah Palin impeached due to her scandals?
Edited on Thu Nov-13-08 12:49 AM by political_Dem
The scandals (including how she built her house with public funds) are a part of her public career no matter how many investigative committees she hires to "exonerate" herself.

Is there any way she can be brought to justice for her excesses while in office?

Are there any impeachment or recall movements against Sarah Palin in Alaska?

I know that people are sick of hearing about her, but I think this is a serious issue because the woman and her ideology is dangerous.

Edit: edited for clarity.

1. Oh, yes, there are movements.
If you go to ProgressiveAlaska here http://www.progressivealaska.blogspot.com/ , read his stuff, then go to the bloggers on the right-hand side -- The Mudflats, Just a Girl From Homer, and The Immoral Minority are my favorites -- you can get some idea of what's going on here in the Democratic/Progressive community.

Sarah alienated a lot of former Democratic allies in the legislature during the campaign, and she never was particularly popular with the Republican establishment, so she'll have her work cut out for her. She hasn't shown any humility so far that I've seen, and I think that's going to be a problem. We have some good Democratic legislators and we picked up some more seats in this election, so it could get pretty interesting.

I think if she proves incapable of doing her job, especially in this more difficult time with falling oil revenues (the fiscal foundation of our state economy), and if she can't reconcile her ethical lapses, she should be recalled.

2. Thank you for your information.

I will check it out because I am curious why the MSM is giving Sarah a pass despite all that's been found out about her. A simple confirmation that there are people who are working to unseat her gives me a lot of hope.

It would be terrible for people just to sit there and let her get away with her "excesses" without anyone doing anything about it.

Blue, as always, I appreciate your information. I wish you the best. I hope you can update us with some more news soon.

Btw, the Begich news is wonderful. I hope he hangs in there. :)

4. The Begich news is like Christmas.

I've been here since 1975 and Ted Stevens has ALWAYS been the senator. It's just unbelievable that that era might actually be passing. I'm holding my breath. If Mark wins and we can slow Sarah down for even two more years, I think maybe we can take her out of national circulation. Things won't be so easy for her up here now, we've seen a different side of her -- plus -- with the falling oil prices, our revenues will be down and she'll have to contend with serious things like budget shortfalls and such. It's not glamorous, but it's got to be done. If she doesn't deal with it in a convincing way, I think she'll have lost a lot of her luster by 2010.

I don't know if you saw my photos of our "Hold Palin Accountable" rally in September, but if you're interested, they're here. http://www.northernvisions.smugmug.com/gallery/6083679_8Emun#382203710_7RivZ There were about 1800 people there.

7. I think if Mr. Begich wins, it will reflect a change in Alaskan politics.

From your pictures, one of the most interesting signs to me was the one that said, "Your hubris, our shame". That's exactly what her behavior demonstrates on the local, state and national levels. She has the arrogance to believe that she has hoodwinked not only her constituents, but the rest of the nation while she continues to siphon off benefits for herself and her family. What is even more outrageous, is that Sarah does this while she lies in everyone's face. While she lies, more and more dirty laundry continues to come out. There will be one day in which it will be impossible for her to hide her wrongdoing no matter what she does.

My question has always been what the people of Alaska plan to do with all of these scandals and the falsehoods. That is why your pictures of the "Hold Palin Accountable" rally are great. It shows that people won't take Sarah Palin's behavior lying down and will voice their disgust about it. We can't afford apathy.

I hope that the dislike for Sarah will grow into something more substantial in the coming days. The corruption has to be ended.

My fingers will be crossed in the hopes that we will continue to see people work to make Alaska better.

8. I think it would be pretty tough to get a sitting governor recalled
not impossible, but a steep climb. The better road may be to let her hang herself (figuratively) and run someone against her in 2010 who is dynamic and tested enough to knock her off. Yes, two years would be hell to have her around, but then again we put up with the large ape in the White House for 8 years.
