1. Did you see Maddow's interview tonight with Evan Bayh?
Sickening.

He more or less stated that Lieberman is the most powerful senator because he does not want to see him booted from his chairmanship because if he is, then that means he might just leave the party or become bitter and not vote with the Dems.

Sickening.

7. Don't you just love it? We, the people who make up the party, who put
these schmucks in power, who cough up the cash for every damn thing they want or do, have absolutely no say in this matter.

3. Im so sick of that douche bag!
I hate him with that arrogant smirk on his face, hes nothing more than a forked tongue snake in the grass. I don't see him as a Democrat either, to me hes just another sniveling weasel repuke and only a democrat in name. He could care less for our party and much less for the country. He needs to go, or just be stripped of his chairmanship.Ok I'll be reasonable,he can remain with the dems but his chairmanship has to be stripped out of his hands. Is that too much to ask?

11. I'm ALMOST hoping that we don't hit that magic "60" number in the Senate.
Joe has them over the same barrel they
were over in last cycle's majority situation.

I think they're going to hold off on stripping
him of his Chairmanship until the 3 disputed
senate races are settled.

Personally, I'd boot his wrinkly ass NOW.
He did us no actual good during the majority
stand-off, and, as I parent, I believe that
bad behavior should carry consequences.

12. Hannity calls him his good friend and Joe is reciprocal to that sentiment
Sean Hannity.......... yuk

HANNITY: Look, like everything else, Senator... I mean, I actually have a whole series of quotes here in front of me... you know, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the day after the hurricane hit, he blamed Bush and the CO2 gases and the not supporting the Kyoto accord. You have Paul Begala said, well the money was spent to fund Iraq. Ted Kennedy said, Bush is the one who poisoned the air and water. Here's what bothers me about this whole thing, the government made terrible mistakes.

LIEBERMAN: Correct.

HANNITY: But for 35 years, New Orleans knew this was coming. They had a thousand schoolbuses sitting five feet away from them, and the governor and the mayor didn't have enough sense to go put a key in it and get a thousand drivers and help these people out that needed help.

LIEBERMAN: Yeah, there can't be... you know, listen, some people are trying to scapegoat Michael Brown, some people are trying to scapegoat President Bush.

HANNITY: And it goes on, it starts listing some of the Democrats that have become the most outspoken. And we saw, for example, during the Alito hearings we saw Ted Kennedy and Biden and Chuck Schumer. Hillary Clinton is a loud voice for the Democratic party these days, as is John Kerry. We saw, for example, the way the president was treated down at Corretta Scott King's funeral, by Jimmy Carter. Do you fear that the Democratic party has really been co-opted by a pretty hard-left element?

LIEBERMAN: Well this is the great challenge to us. I mean, if Democrats ever want to get back in power, they're gonna have to move back toward the center, and are gonna have to reassure the American people on the baseline question, which is what government, particularly the federal government, is about before anything else, which is security, that Democrats will use the power of our government to protect people's security in a dangerous age.

HANNITY: I'm good. Now listen, before we get into all the stuff that we need to talk about, there's a lot of news here. I need to know, yes or no, do you want my public support, do you want my endorsement, do you think that hurts your re-election efforts, do you want me to come out in opposition of you, I want to do what's in your best interests, you gotta tell me what you want me to do.

LIEBERMAN: Yeah. Well, you know, it's good of you to ask me in private like this. (Laughter)

HANNITY: (Laughter) I'm thinking... I'm thinking Hannity Conservatives for Lieberman and I'll do a big fundraiser in Connecticut.

LIEBERMAN: Yeah, yeah. Let me just say, I appreciate your friendship, and I appreciate your support. Really.

13. let him off the hook
I know its unpopular at this place, but the smart thing would be to
keep him on a string,
marginalize him without shaming him too much,
keep his vote in the senate safe,
keep our eyes on the larger prize of advancing our agenda in the senate

Never forget, but lets not shoot ourselves in the foot right out of the gate.

Suck it up, and let him off the hook is the smarter move.

14. Explain this....
What will be the difference of 59 votes or 60? If the issue is that controversial, there is going to be a couple of conservative Democrats, regardless of it being Lieberman, who won't vote for the measure anyway.

It is not going to hurt the Dems in the Senate to lose one vote. If the topic is that important, then Lieberman would probably vote for it anyway.

This single person is wielding more power than any other Senator right now and the Dems are playing the regular game of Washington politics as usual. Protect THEIR (actual politicians) own interests before the peoples'.
