Lieberman- Where's The Netroots Effort Telling Senators To Vote Him Off As Chair?

Lieberman Must Go- link provided by the esteemed DU'er ProSense:

I've seen a few threads about Lieberman's fate as Committee Chair but none rallying DU'ers to write/email their Senators telling them to vote Lieberman off as Committee Chair.

Seems to me, Progressives will have no cause to bitch if Senators vote to keep Lieberman on as Chair and no real organized effort was mounted to contact Senators telling them how we want them to vote.

And yet, I can pretty well imagine all the reactionary screaming if the Senators keep Joe on.

1. I Wrote To My Wimpy Sen. Salazar
he won't do anything - he's a follower, not a leader. Can't stand him.

5. Unfortunately, that is the case... Write Mark Udall, though... In case
they hold over the decision for the next Congress.

6. I wrote to Barbara Boxer
The problem I see is Lieberman can't be trusted to keep his word. He seems to emerge at the worst possible moments with his backbiting and knife twisting. This is as good a time to strip him of his chairmanship as any.

7. I've called Senator Durbin. But I figure he'll do what Obama wants,
and for some reason, Obama wants Lieberman left in the chair.

10. Just called, please do this!
I called my senators, Boxer and Feinstein, plus Durbin and Reid. Their staffers said they've gotten "some" calls on this today. Please turn up the heat and flood them!

Sunday, after Dodds remarks in the Courant.

Thread sank like a stone.

13. I actually agree with Obama -
If the message is to reach out to everyone to heal the country, having Lieberman officially "punished" may send the wrong signal and actually give the Republicans some talking points. It also means we lose any leverage over him - not taking the position now does mean we can't - given provocation take it in the future.

He still will suffer by being a pariah in the caucus. What is clear is that since 2000 he has ruptured most of the relationships he had in the past. He knows that we don't need him in the caucus - the magic number is 50 (because Biden breaks ties) so we have the majority. We need 60 VOTES (not Senators in the caucus) to end filibusters. He will be there on things like judges, the environment etc - and likely not there on Iraq. This will happen no matter what caucus he is in.

Not punishing him, but having the Democrats all say that things like saying that Ayers was a legit issue was wrong might be the best way to get past it.

14. There have been many posts linking Jane Hamshers Petition for us to sign and for those
of us who still have Repug Senators, who don't listen to us, the Petition was the way to go.

15. Does it matter?
This Congress has only about 2 months left.

After that, there really isn't much LIEberman can to in order to keep his post other than wait for Reid to cave.
