You know what?Obama has shown pretty awesome judgement during his campaign
Remember this
In July of 2007, Barack Obama was asked by a video questioner: "Would you be willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea?....."

"I would," he answered.

Remember the shit that was thrown at him over this?
His campaign even wanted him to back away from this statement, but Obama refused.
He was right.
Look where he is now..The White House.
People thought he should go negative and attack McCain and Palin more.. He didn't.
Look where he is now..The White House.

A lesser man (Myself included) would maybe have backed down and attacked more.
I probably wouldn't have made it to the White House.

What I'm getting at is the Lieberman situation.
I'd love to kick his ass to the curb,as many would.
Obama doesn't.
He has shown a uncanny good judgment so far so I'm willing to trust him on this.

1. He will use the Liebermann situation to his advantage.
You watch. It appears like he's appeasing Joe, but Joe now owes him big time.

5. I envision Lieberman jacked up against the wall, ferret eyes shifting
rat tail twitching. I hope he suffers through this with intense emotional pain

6. Let him feast on crow.
Kicking him out would just give fodder to the republicans.

7. Yeah, Obama has done very well in spite of the advice of all of the unofficial advisors
who have railed for months that "Obama needs to do this" or "Obama needs to do that". I think I will trust his judgment because apparently he does know what he is doing.

16. So you support bribing Lieberman so he will caucus with us? Obama said he isn't a perfect human.
Edited on Thu Nov-13-08 12:53 PM by John Q. Citizen
He will make mistakes.

I think bribing someone so they will pretend to be your friend is a big mistake. How about you?

(edit to ad)

I also believe it's a mistake to reward incompetence or cronyism. Lieberman was a failure as the chair and failed to do any over site. If the Dems leave the failed treacherous elephants in the room from the past in the leadership of the present, they will be failing the call for change!

This is about issues and votes.
Besides Iraq LieberWeezel is on our side on many progressive issues.

20. Who said Barack thinks JL is his friend?
If he can get his vote on critical legislation and get things passed then that's the desired result. The issue of friendship is moot. This is Big Boy Politics and so far Barack has shown an excellent understanding of it.

22. And if you believe Barack, he will make mistakes. It's probably about time, and this will
Edited on Thu Nov-13-08 01:11 PM by John Q. Citizen
be a big one, if it happens. I'm still not convinced the Dems are unthinking enough to commit such a blunder, but it wouldn't be the first time.

This is an insult to the whole Democratic Party of Connecticut, as well as to Democrats everywhere who worked and contributed so we wouldn't have to rely on lying neo-con war criminal scum.

Not just that, Joe was an ineffective failure in over site. Heck of a job, Joey, here's to another shot!

So instead of just bowing to the (perceived) will of the PE, perhaps you should follow your own gut feeling about how this will play out and help Obama avoid one of the mistakes that he has guaranteed us he will make? I mean if that's what your gut tells you.

Unless you don't believe Obama, or think he was just joking or fibbing.

23. Yes, I beliefve him explicitly. But I'm not going to call every decision
he makes with which I don't agree one of his mistakes. This might be one, but within the byzantine halls of power in Washington he may also be able to placate his base, placate his opponents and keep JL's vote available when he needs it.

If he puts Lieberman in a position of honor and power, then the CT Dem's will indeed have a gripe; if he just manages to keep a vote on the right side of the aisle to pass needed legislation, then that's OK (with me, anyway).

I think he figure at least two.
The thing is We dems seem to never march lock step like the republicans do.
We need every vote we can get.

21. Obama and his folks are The Smartest Motherf@ckers In The Room.
Trust him on this one too. Personally, I'd love to see Holy Joe stripped of his status and hurried out the door to a waiting career as a Fox Pundit. As usual, Team Obama is playin Chess, not Checkers.Besides, Revenge is a dish best served cold.............

Hanging with preachers who are anti-gay, etc.

They accept from him behavior they fried his opponents for. What would have happened if any of the other candidates was known to be talking to Colin Powell? Sam Nunn? They'd be declared DINOs. But it's 'prudent' of Obama and a way of his 'reaching out'.

25. I figured that Lieberman as a victim ain't where we need to be.....
You know Joe would cry on Television, and Dems would be looked upon as vindictive and petty and power hungry. No need to give the media that story. Better to make Joe look utterly foolish and untrustworthy for having been the Judas that he is. Pres. Obama seems to know this. I believe that he is right on this move......again.

28. He's gifted.
I can't think of a better way of putting it. He's younger than I am. While discussing where he obtained his superior experience, I can to the conclusion that this is beyond experience. It's a political gift. I like this to a realtime, real life chess game. He's got his game down.

I remember when I thought Captain Beefheart was just terrible. I recall hating Frank Zappa for not holding a complete tune for an entire song. But then I matured musically. I realized what they were doing. Jimmy Hendrix had it. But he played lefty guitar. I'm sure guitar teachers everywhere thought it was a travesty.

I might go so far as to say the same thing about Obama. That his vision is deeper than ours. Like the Lieberman affair. He can be ridden of quickly. And he's on Obama's tether.

In chess the shortsighted moves are never the right ones. Five moves away is where the game is happening. I don't have that ability.

I honestly do not know the truth. But what I see is a gifted man. One I fully trust.
