What you're going to see more of: family outings with the Obama's. |
|
The Obama's heading to dinner together. The Obama's at birthday parties for their children. The Obama's going on an outing or two - seeing the world.
I mention Gen X a lot, and I know how that rankles a few people, but I can tell you that - from my own experiences as a Gen X'er - that I expect a greater balance between work and life than the traditional go-get-'em lifestyles of those before me. My husband is important. When I have children, they will be very important. Making a show at one's job is not as important to me as my husband and friends. Even my schooling takes somewhat of a lesser importance than the rest of my life.
I'm sure Obama will be brilliant as president, but I think he's also not going to care about impression building with the public as much as keeping sane by spending time with his family. The kiss he gave Michelle on stage on election night was probably a sincere kiss. They love each other - who cares whether someone is going to gauge their social interactions in public? It was a big moment for the both of them - why wouldn't they kiss and hug? That's what people do when they're happy for one another.

He's barely seen his family these past two years!
You can't have but so much balance and be president.

2. Sorry. He's a boomer. And, your second paragraph is a bit of a broad brush. |
|
Every single one of my friends has placed their families first, before their careers.

A question.
My understanding is that the baby boom ended in 1964. If Obama was born in 1961, how is he a gen-Xer?
I have no problems with gen-Xers, I think you'll do a better job than we baby boomers have. I'm just curious, though.
PEACE!

4. I can understand what you want to see |
|
It's just a little bit of balance. As much as can be expected for a First Family. I hope they can find balance and keep close.

it is so close by helicopter and the girls will be able to bring their friends and roam around and play and ride bikes to their hearts content and give them that sense of freedom and normalcy!!!

7. "The kiss he gave Michelle....was probably a sincere kiss." Probably?! |
|
How do you mean "probably"? Some things can't be faked and that's one of them - they're quite evidently crazy about each other!
