Palin's First Press Conference Cut Short (VIDEO)

Rick Perry shuts down Palin press conference
by mperkins
Thu Nov 13, 2008 at 11:07:19 AM PST

In the first press conference Palin has given since ruining McCain's chances of winning the presidential election, Rick Perry stepped in and pushed Sarah to the side, interrupting her press conference abruptly and rather conspicuously.

Here in Miami, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska has just given her first press conference since she shot to international prominence... It was a mess. According to my digital recorder, the actual Q & A with her lasted three minutes and 23 seconds and there were just four questions - three before press staff attempted to shut the thing down.

...

The whole event lasted less than 11 minutes, ending with Perry saying curtly "thank you all for coming" and a local television reporter shouting out: "Governor, a Florida question! C'mon, a Florida question!"

5. Thank you, Rick Perry
If the national Republicans keep shutting Sarah down, maybe these Palinistas up here will get a clue (doubtful, however).

7. Yup, yup, yup, that was certainly an abrupt end. Maybe all those governors aren't coming together,
coming together, united as we thought, hmm, Sarah?

And some still think we shouldn't talk about her? If the RNC wants to shut her up, I think that indicates that we aren't talking about her enough.

Whatever it takes to get Sarah to shut up!!! But Perry was probably mad that the spotlight wasn't on him. He's about as much of an attention whore as Palin is.

And yes, I am a Texan.

Ole' Ricky probably got 'scared straight' at the meeting listening to her, then figured he better shut her up before she does any more damage to the party.

23. It is mind-boggling the amount of free cable coverage she is generating
It is a slow news cycle, and she is stepping in, putting herself in front of the cameras, and slowly ginning up her base for the next horse race. Those who feel she might be a threat to their own campaigns and/or causes should sit up and take notice. I personally wish the Obama coalition would start having more news conferences or announcements of some sorts that would force the camera's eye off Palin and onto the next President of the United States and the ongoing efforts of those who are supporting him.

Her time has come and gone unless people do step in and shut her down. I am disgusted how often I turn on the news to get some substantial info about what is happening, and there SHE is .... I truly am not interested in anything she has to say.

Sam

28. But, but, Gov Goodhair....you've called her a "returning hero"
Why'd you push her off the stage?? Guess the "respect" and "support" only lasts til she starts taking YOUR camera time away.

http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2008/11/rick-perry-on-sarah-palin-a-he.html

Sarah Palin has been the focus of some sniping within GOP. But Gov. Rick Perry says when she shows up today at the Republican Governors Association annual meeting, she "is going to be treated like a returning hero."

"We know her, we've known her better and longer than any of those folks out there," the Texas governor told Fox News Wednesday. "We respect her. We support her. And she is reflective of the type of leadership that America expects from American governors."

So take that anonymous Palin critics within the McCain camp, who've targeted the Alaska governor as one reason for John McCain's loss. Perry is the outgoing president of the RGA, which is meeting in Miami. Palin, who's seen by some as the future of the party, is scheduled to chair a roundtable on the future of the Republican Party and will hold a news conference.

30. The impression I got from the other GOP govs there assembled was
that Gov. Palin was not the most popular person among their ranks.

I was picking up a palpable disdain for her by the group generally and by Perry and Pawlenty especially.

32. Why isn't she being held accountable for the bad vote counting in Alaska?
She has a state with under 700,000 people.

It's been ten days, and they're still counting. How many people are counting? ONE? TWO?

This governor does not seem the least bit concerned that her state cannot count its own meager ballots.

She needs to be put in four point restraints, given multiple injections of Thorazine and put in a padded room for a few years.

36. Palin travels wherever she can on Alaska taxpayers dime. She bring the kids along?
Who's taking care of Palin's brood while she's busy promoting herself as a worthwile contender for 2021?
LMAO when Perry shut her up.
I'm so sick of seeing her on every news station, like she has anything worthwhile to say. Cheerleader babble is all I hear.
Perry will never let her upstage him. Never.
