Red State Dems outed as Dems by Obama's election -- and we've been getting together since!
I know many here live in Red States, or Red areas in Blue states. This has been my experience only recently. It's difficult.

One unexpected result of Obama's election was discovering people, through conversations and exchange of gossip, who voted for him that I had no idea were Democrats. We have been delighted to find each other. Since Election Night, I've been out with groups of like-minded "Blues" at lunchtime and to dinner. Some people I knew, but didn't know they were Democrats. Others were friends of Democrats I knew, and friends of mine who were Democrats, who have now been introduced to each other.

Not that people were hiding their affiliation -- just not likely to bring it up, assuming that everyone else was a conservo Republican.

There was such a pent-up need among everyone to express views and ideas and joy freely!

I just wanted to pass this along to others who are Blue in Red State -- or even Blue in a Red city or neighborhood. Maybe it happened, or could happen, where you live.

1. That was the same experience we had here

when so many turned out for our Alaskans for Truth anti-Palin rallies. It was so gratifying to realize that there were so many people who cared about this that they would make signs and come out and protest. It was really heart-warming.

Of course, Sarah says she didn't hear anything about these rallies until afterwards (with a dismissive wave of her hand), but I think she ignores us at her peril.

5. I found many Democrats, here behind
the Orange curtain, in '03 because we were all Deaniacs. It gave new life to the OC Democratic Party. It is a delight.

6. My county voted 3-1 for McFailin
It doesn't get much redder than that. I know there are some fellow dems around, but they are few and far between. Oklahoma actually showed up to vote against Obama. If I were not stuck here I would move to the North East in a heartbeat.
