Consequences of more people following politics |
|
On one hand, it's great that so many new voters were energized to participate in the elections this year. There will have to be an increase, among some of these voters, in general awareness of how the political process works and how they can best participate.
On the other hand, Television Entertainment a la Sarah Palin is another consequence of bringing in more people, many of whom like their politics personality-driven. The question, it seems, is whether the increase in citizenship will outpace the growth of popular culture consumption.
