where Obama gave Duckworth a hug.....That picture brought tears to my eyes....

8. Most important consideration is that Duckworth can win the Senate seat in 2 years

She's so smart, so charismatic but most importantly she can win that Senate seat in 2 years. She ran a very, very close campaign in the reddest county in the country - Dupage, home of Henry Hyde. She was a complete unknown and came within 1% of winning which means she got a LOT of Rethugs to vote for her.

She has name recognition and she has the right senatorial temperament imho. She handled herself very well during the debates and the campaign.

Also Blagojevich is a political animal - he'll appoint someone Barack Obama wants so he can curry a favor from Obama is my guess. Duckworth would be high on that list for that reason also. Obama really likes her.
