1. I think it's important to keep the cards close to the chest througout

the vetting and selection process. This helps prevent a lot of second guessing after the fact. However, once a decision on a position is made, I believe it should be made public as soon as possible.

and speculation about the shape of the new administration gives presence to that administration. I think it works up some excitement and some interest to hear names of such stature hit the news.
