26. It amazes me how some people don't "get it," when it comes to former Presidents. |
|
They don't want to be in the Senate or other political office. They belong to a highly exclusive club (the Former Presidents Club). They are older and no longer want to adhere to a strict schedule that a political office would require (if only for a few months a year). Even if they were to do that, it would have to be a political office befitting a former President....unlike being a senator, which would be a big step-down.
They like to help their friends, work on their causes, maintain their libraries that build up their legacy, play golf, relax and enjoy the good life, give speeches for tens of thousands of dollars, write books, go to parties where they are the center of attention, spend time with family.
I don't think he'd even want to be a governor again. That would be a step down, too. Been there, done that...before he rose to be a President.

31. We need to de-mystify the office as was intended by the framers. Back then at 47 you had one foot |
|
in the box. Now at 56 you can live another life. It would be good to see President's return to there home base and give back to their states some of their experience. We would have a more realistic Congress.

is Roberts now the Chief Justice until he steps down?
I thought the president could nominate a new Supreme Court justice for Chief as long as there was an opening anywhere on the court.

He doesn't need, or probably want, any elected office position. He's very involved in his foundation and Global Initiative.
He didn't sit on Hillary's lap all these years that she's been in the senate, why would he now? He contributes more to society in his current endeavor.
