A Chicago meeting that is going to happen: Obama to meet with McCain
November 14, 2008

Meeting McCain

McCain appears to be moving swiftly to move past his defeat, and rebuild himself as a force in the new congress. Given his shaky standing with his own party, though, his best bet is to return to his role as a bi-partisan broker and compromiser, one that Obama aggressively downplayed in the election but is now likely to embrace.

And now, says Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter, McCain will come to Chicago for a meeting.

"On Monday, President-elect Barack Obama and Senator John McCain will meet in Chicago at transition headquarters. It's well known that they share an important belief that Americans want and deserve a more effective and efficient government, and will discuss ways to work together to make that a reality. They will be joined in the meeting by Senator Lindsey Graham and Congressman Rahm Emanual," she said in the emailed statement.

Wonder if McCain is up for a cabinet position? :sarcasm:

3. I thought that was weird too
but I guess Rahm and Lindsey negotiated over the debates, so maybe it's to, um, ease tensions between Obama and McCain? Who the hell knows.

2. I kind of wish Obama could give McCain a cabinet position
Then Janet Napolitano could give his seat to a Democrat and help us get to 60. Since so much of this campaign has emulated West Wing, wouldn't that be a fitting twist? Only problem is they don't agree on much...maybe energy...they both support investment in renewable energy, and Obama has softened his stance on drilling already. They both oppose drilling in Alaska. Probably wouldn't work, but it is a thought.

6. OR, if you're going to pull a Dem. Senator out for a cabinet position,
offer a Repub a job there to. A balancing act of sorts...

7. ok, I love Obama but that would piss me off
My biggest problem with McCain was that he was an erratic, uninformed guy who just happened to ride the clock for 25 yrs after coming home from Vietnam. I don't think he brings anything good to the table. He's all talk. And very mean.
