She and Richardson are the two most qualified for the job.. and I kind of like the whole... not being a yes man to Obama thing. I like the fact that he is thinking about appointing people that don't always agree with him. That's just my two and a half cents...


On edit: just to explain my position further. Clinton is qualified because of the clout she has in the world. She will easily be able to work with other leaders. For those of you worried about her positions during the primary, I believe she wasn't too far the right. I think she was running a DLCish campaign...so she was punctuating the more right leaning positions. I believe she is much more progressive in her actual opinions than some give her credit for.

3. Polarizing (doesn't help unite this country), he won't be able to get rid of her once he gives her

the position (which puts WAY to much power in her hands), and it will make it look like the third Clinton term and that he is unqualified which is why he needs the Clintons (they are already running the 3 a.m. ad).

Make the Clintons special envoys. That way if they try to undercut him or do their own thing, he can just stop using them.

4. Why qualified?? Her foreign policy outlook was almost neocon

Historians have uniformly given Kerry the nod regarding quals as SOS.
Other choices are based more on political considerations even though all are qualified.

8. If she does take the job, I think Eliot Spitzer should take her Senate seat.

He can be appointed by the Gov. I don't care about the sex scandal. He was Wall Street's sheriff and they took him out. We need someone as tough and knowledgeable as Spitzer to help straighten out the financial mess.

10. Here are my concerns:

1)Her comments regarding Iran. I don't know if she really meant all the tough war talk, or if she was just trying to eliminate the myth that women are too weak to be commander in chief... but I don't like comments like "Obliterate Iran." I just don't. I want peace to be the first option, not war!

2)Their different views on diplomacy

3)The crowd she surrounded herself with during the primaries. I don't know if it's just that Obama's team was perfect, or her team was a group of epic failures, but I'm just concerned that her judgment in picking qualified allies might be slightly off.

4)Bill Clinton--the unknown variable. Love the guy, but he sucks the air out of the room. I don't want him to undermine Obama.

11. Richardson is the most qualified. And Kerry is far more qualified than Hillary.

Not sure why anyone would think she is qualified. Being the wife of a former president doesn't qualify you for anything,
as her health care fuckup amply demonstrated. And let's not forget her ridiculous lies about sniper fire and helping broker
the Irish Peace accord.

14. Read his resumé. The answer is obvious.

The only caveat with Richardson is he might be embarrassed during Senate hearings if Republicans decide to dig up dirt
on his rumored affairs. That said, I'd be very happy with Kerry as SoS.
