1. A sense of accomplishment but need to feel pride on inauguration day.
Also I need to feel that the national situation can actually be remedied.

4. thank you ...
i feel deep gratitude towards the volunteers. You made this victory possible. Without you, Obama would not have won this historic race. (I wish I could have helped out, but illness prevented me.)

Over the past months, I read the volunteer accounts that were posted in DU with deep appreciation. So I thought I'd check in and see how you're doing. You are our heroes, and you must never be forgotten.

Well, I do have an ulterior motive ...I wanted to use this thread to flush you all out in one place, so that your responses will be archived in DU. After all, you made history.

Please tell us your stories.

3. nervous.
The economy is tanking big time and Bush is sticking with his ideology and Paulson has already blown $350B of the bailout on God knows what. He isn't doing what he said he would do. The LIBOR rate rose 2 basis points today.

Obama is trying to build his cabinet... and appears to be reaching back to the Clinton administration for some picks (and the Clintons were not known as economic progressives).

Yup, I'm nervous.

(and also broke and laid off... which makes me personally very nervous)

I didn't know what to do with myself this past weekend. I slept a lot pretty much. And stared at the wall for awhile. lol

Mentally I feel an unbelievable sense of pride knowing that my efforts helped turn out the vote in Philly and more importantly, I was able share a little bit of joy and hope with so many people that I spoke with. And about that "hope" thing; there's a lot of that mixed with the pride. I feel like I own a little piece of this campaign and that makes me feel like I can really help change what's wrong. I also feel a sense of humility because I learned to depend on and listen to the wisdom of others (and I learned to recognized WHEN I needed to do so) and I learned that I couldn't do it all and that was OK as long as I gave it my best shot. On the opposite end of the scale, I'm feeling far more confident and have a higher sense of self-worth than I have in the past because I discovered that I was made of pretty tough stuff, I could be a good leader, and other people could depend on me.

ETA: All of this stuff was particularly important because when I started volunteering, I was unemployed and pretty down on myself because I just kept getting rejection letter after rejection letter. Volunteering gave me some sense of purpose and kept me sane because I was so busy with it. I'm just fortunate that even when I found a job in late September, I was still able to come help out on the weekends and some days after work.

So that's how I feel right now and I'm ready to REALLY get to work with fixing things and helping to make the next EIGHT years everything that I hope they'll be. :)
