We're losing two Senators. Isn't that enough??? |
|
Can we just leave the rest of our Senators THERE, and not put them in the Cabinet? Surely there are other persons, non-Senators, who are qualified to serve in the cabinet!! Hillary, Kerry, et al. - STAY WHERE YOU ARE!!!
That is all.

3. As long as they are senators in blue states we'll be fine |
|
I mean I wouldn't give a cabinet position to Mary Landrieu since god knows what Bobby Jindal would pick to replace her. :scared:

10. We're losing EXPERIENCE and SENIORITY. |
|
I understand that we're not giving up any seats, and that any replacements would be made in Blue states.
But there is an intangible loss, if nothing else. A freshman may be vulnerable later.

6. I don't think Obama should try to persuade any Democratic Senators... |
|
...who are reluctant to leave the Senate to join his cabinet.
But if a Senator made it known that he or she would rather be Secretary of State, that is different.

7. Senator Biden, Kerry and Kennedy represent |

a collective 106 years of service in the United States Senate.
There is a chance that a collective 106 years of knowledge and service might have made an impression on the place. There is also a chance that this much institutional memory might be missed.

8. I still remember the Lloyd Bentsten appointment to Treasury in 1993 |
|
Clinton pulled him right out of the Senate. The Gov. Richards appointed a lightweight to fill the seat, but he got swamped in the special election. In just 6 months, the senate seat was gone.
