3. Not to be dense or anything but...
what the hell goes on in Alaska anyways?

I've been in ENGLAND for two weeks and I go home today and they STILL can't manage to recount less than ONE MILLION votes in Alaska in two weeks? Who do they have doing the counting? Larry Daryl and Daryl? Gomer Pyle? How long could it possibly take? We count 12 million in one night here in Florida these days.

J.H.Christ is Alaska trying to show us up in the screwed up election department?

4. They elected Palin governor. Yes, this does stink
Edited on Fri Nov-14-08 08:28 PM by Hokie
I think that speaks volumes. I think what stinks is that they gave the impression that Stevens won in the media for over a week when nearly a third of the votes were uncounted and there was no way the race was over at that point.

5. You know what?
We're going to get 60 fucking Dem senators. I'm saying this even though I dreamed all night last night that Martin lost to that racist asshat because the black voters didn't show up. That is irony I am not proud of.

6. I think this represents about 13,300 new votes counted
According to an AP story the other day there were around 30,000 ballots left to count. If that is correct there are under 17,000 left to count. It is looking good for Begich.

10. They are stil counting today and more Monday
There should be another update today. Some areas are counting Monday. From what I understand reading Nate Silver's site the areas that counted today were the most Stevens friendly of the ones left and Begich gained anyway.

BEGICH NOW AHEAD BY 1022

That was the last update of the day and I'm guessing the numbers went down a little bit because Fairbanks and Mat Su Valley finished their counting.

Exciting news in Fairbanks...Republican Representative Mike Kelley (District 7) is only ahead of Democrat Karl Kassel by one vote! So, there will probably be at least one recount!

Remember, overseas absentee ballots can arrive up through Nov. 19th!

Per my phone calls to the Division of Elections:

Region 1: Juneau is done for the day but will be doing their final count (we hope) on Tuesday Nov. 18th.

Region 2: Mat Su Valley--DONE

Anchorage will be finishing their count on Tuesday Nov. 18th as well.

Region 3: Prince William Sound--DONE

Region 4: Aleutians, Western AK, North Slope--DONE

9. Nate Silver declared the race for Begich on Olbermann.
He said that the outstanding votes were in regions that had gone Democratic in the past. He predicted that by the end Begich will win by a 2-3K margin.

So it's looking pretty good.
