2 questions re: Barack's dream team |
|
Would Kerry be a good choice for Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs?
and
What happens if McCain leaves AZ Senate for an Obama cabinet position? Who appoints or picks McCain's replacement?
If someone could help I would appreciate it...I have company right now and can't look it up, but the questions arose....

Kerry is not a serving member of the United States military and as such would be ineligible to be Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (the military commanders.)
Moreover, Kerry resigned his Naval commission in the 1970's and he never served in a senior officer role (Naval Captain or above) or attended the War College.

Thanks for the reply... I am sorry I did not know the rules for appointing cabinet members, so therefore I thought because he was an OFFICER in the Navy (retired) he might be eligible
Have a great day

2. First question: NO. Second question: I guess Napolitano gets to appoint the new senator. |
|
(for Kerry, NO because he is not a member of the military).
