Why wouldn't Clinton be a good Attorney General?
There's a lot of hype for her to be a SOS. But isn't she a lawyer with a fairly impressive law background?

She seems much more qualified for Attorney General with her substantial law background than for SOS, IMO.

1. She's an excellent senator, and should stay there.
We don't need to bring back Clinton's cabinet and administration, good as they were - two or three, maybe, but Obama really needs to totally cut the strings of the past and start fresh and new, and not keep hauling out the old schoolers like we've done the last 20 years.

15. Agreed.
I'm not aware of any demonstrated organizational/executive/administrative abilities on her part, nor am I aware of much demonstrated relevant legal expertise. The AG (or any Executive Department head with thousands of employees) needs certain executive management abilities as well as a range of legal practice experience.

One of the reasons I like Bill Richardson for SoS or another senior cabinet role is his demonstrated skills in all the relevant areas. Even John Kerry has less.

7. Looks like she was an legal advisor to the US House during Nixon impeachment
I'm not a Hillary supporter at all, but I do think she is more qualified for AG than SOS.

I really don't see how she could be more qualified in international relations than in law, her primary study.

6. I think she would make a FORMIDABLE attorney general and I'd love her to have that job. Know why?
Because the Repukes spent 8 years dragging her through the mud, calling her names, insulting her, accusing her of being a murderer, and much much more. I'd love for her to be in charge if somehow this administration is found guilty of their crimes.

9. Here's why......

The next Attorney General cannot be friends with the Bush Crime Family and allow them to walk away from their many crimes against this nation (and others) again. Nor can he or she be beholden to corporations.

We need an attorney general who will enforce existing laws, restore the ones that never should have been cancelled and bring justice that is long needed in this country for things that have been done the last 28 years.

Hillary can't do that.

you'll be sorely disappointed.

Someone has to stop those bastards and ensure that they never get a chance to rob this country blind again.

25. It won't happen.
It's not a diss at Obama, just the reality. Bush is going to go back to TX and Cheney will hide in his cave (where's he from anyway? I can't remember). Rumsfeld sailed into the sunset a long time ago and Rove is having a successful new career as a pundit on FOX.

The country is in the crapper and most people do not have the taste for prosecuting a former president and his staffers. They are far more worried about losing their jobs and homes (those who still have one or the other).

;)

10. Because she's not been a practicing attorney or a judge in a long, long time.
Hillary has many qualifications, but expertise in law isn't one of them.

She's very qualified to be Secretary of State. She's not really qualified to be AG.

I doubt you'd find many lawyers, law professors, or judges would say Hillary is a good choice for AG.

12. Too many connections with those she'd have to prosecute
Bubba would not take kindly to her bringing criminal charges against the very people he's spent the past 20 years sucking up to. He finally gets invited to play golf with the big boys and next thing you know, Hillary's throwing their asses in jail. Never gonna happen. It would be a dumb move and Obama and/or his staff knows it.

However, I don't believe you even need to be an attorney to be the attorney general.

27. I can't picture Hillary growing old on the court, year after year, no input
Edited on Sat Nov-15-08 02:51 AM by GreenTea
in politics, never in the public eye, keeping a low profile as Supreme Court judges do (besides Scalia)...can't campaign for candidates, supposedly being non partisan...Nope I can't see Hillary wanting to be in that stuffy role, an 83 year old Hillary long forgotten as just one of nine in robes on the bench....

Not that she's not capable, I just don't see it and don't think that's the role she wants....she loves being in politics.

If she chooses to be in someone else' administration it will only be as AG or SoS.....Can you imagine Hillary as AG, the number one cop in the land would drive the republicans crazy, they'd would go out of their fucking minds.

That would probably be a problem in getting him confirmed by the Senate.
