So if the Obama administration decides to offer another stimulus package...
and we get stimulus checks, can we expect all the McCain voters to send the checks back to the government? Maybe donate their checks to a rich person that might have their taxes raised?

Personally, I'm going to tell my in laws (hardcore republicans) to just go ahead and sign that check over to us...I mean, they don't want it...it's socialism, I wouldn't expect them to take part in something so horrible. :sarcasm: I figure I'll be doing them a favor. I wonder if/when they get a tax cut, they will donate money to someone rich...it's only fair right?

2. He should offer us a usury law instead.
That would cost nothing and give all of us more every month.

That, plus fixing the bankruptcy code and Sheila Bair's mortgage modification rules, and consumers would have something to spend again. Just as first steps of course.

3. I'm spending it dammit!! What will you all spend it on? I will give 10% to a
local children's home my wife and I like to help. 50% will go in savings. 20% I will use to open an e-trade account to buy stocks. The rest we will blow on whatever we want. My share will be spent on quasi-legal, herbal medication to help survive the last 2 month's of watching bushie go through the motions of governing.

7. The last bailout applies to either 2007 OR 2008 income
There was an article the other day on Yahoo News about it.

6. The next one should be a debit card that can only be used to pay debt
If were really in a credit crisis, help the public to pay down their outstanding credit obligations.

Hell, I would have used that $700 billion bailout on this instead of directly paying the banks.

They would still end up with the money, they wouldnt have so many delinquencies and non-payment of debt to write off, and the average American gets to reduce their overwhelming debt burden all at the same time.

8. My uncle, who works for NY Life and is a staunch
democrat, suggested something very similar. He thought the bailout was incredibly risky and wasteful.
Personally, I'd like the government to waive my student loans. I'll have more money to spend on whatever every month.

9. YES! I agree with this 100%!
The government just handing money to the banks makes no sense...if they give it to the consumer, and allow them to pay down their debt, it really does kill two birds with one stone. The banks get their money, and the consumers who drive the economy are relieved of debt and can start spending on goods and services again...it's the best way to get the economy going again IMO.

10. I think there are a lot of things
That could be done instead of sending out checks again. A usury law is one, getting those who have been laid off back to work by starting to rebuild roads, bridges, water systems etc. is another, and I am sure this list could be added to. To many people get the checks that really don't need them, and those without work could use it to help them for maybe a month, then they would all be back in the same boat they were in before the checks were sent out. We all would like a little extra money, but I still think that it should be used to get people back to work who need a steady income instead of a one time check. Just my thoughts.
