James Buchanan and Herbert Hoover were terrible presidents followed by AWESOME presidents...
But Buchanan and Hoover only spent 4 years in office. W. Bush, unquestionably the worst 2-term president we ever had, spent EIGHT.

Here's hoping Obama can put this country together again like Lincoln and FDR had to.

2. If the economy were the only problem he had to deal with it would
be a cinch but there is also global warming, oil peak, Iraq war and God only knows how much else. I believe he will be able to do it but I do not think it will be overnight.

without the awful ones before in the future. I really think the whole business of government needs a lot of retooling so it doesn't fall apart every time the Republicans get in power.

4. Barack's already got a place in history
Really, he could be a bad president for the next four years, not get re-elected, and still be remembered fondly.

Him getting elected has given people something they never had before- hope. So, he'll always be remembered in a good light regardless of what happens.
