Why is Hilary being considered for SoS again? Just wondering
Hmm, wasn't Hilary hammered during the primaries for her lack of real foreign policy experience. Granted my knowledge on this is only through the media :) I'm just wondering what's changed since then which would make her better than Richardson? Perhaps SoS does much more or something else?

Oh and i do recall the whole "obliterate" comment by Hilary. I understood the context but such a word would seriously hinder negotiations with me.

1. Because he, unlike some of his supporters, is not a sore winner :-)

6. Or because he recognizes
it's better to have her off the market in 2012...

2. Hopefully she won't have to negociate with you. Let Obama make his own choices folks
We don't have much to say about it anyway & we can all bitch afterwards if we want to, little good that it'll do us.

3. You probably have a better view of this from Canada. Really I
cannot understand the idolizing that has gone on for the last 10 years over Hillary.

I don't think she negotiates well, there are better ones, and I am sure Obama has his reasons.

I would see her better placed as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

8. Nooooooooo!
She should not be Secretary of Health and Human Services. She is too close to the corporate, for profit, health care industry to do the right thing in that job.

4. Actually i really do want to know the reasoning for the choice...
Edited on Sat Nov-15-08 05:54 PM by quantass
Im not trying to be anti-Clinton. Im just as surprised as the media about the choice and am looking for reasons for the selection. If you're like me and dont know I'd appreciate you saying so and not proclaiming me anti-Clinton.

Personally Secretary of Health seemed a better fit but again my knowledge is lacking and waiting to be filled in by a knowledgable DUer.

13. Health HHS, HEW, etc. has been a traditional pink collar ghetto.
She'd be better working on healthcare in the Senate, or completely different as Atty. General.

7. She's highly thought of here in
East Asia as well as in Europe

She is viewed as smart, a good listener and as a person who is prepared with relevant information before a meeting begins.

11. I think Obama feels that he has an obligation to at least offer her a juicy job.
but that questionaire he has will make the decision and relieve him of any discomfort.
just like VP vetting, she won't pass and she knows it.

just dog and pony stuff.
