Snowe, Collins, Specter?
These three moderate republicans come from states with Democratic Governors. Obama's cabinet will inevitably have some Repubbies on it. Is there a position that would be acceptable for one of these three, leading to removal from the Senate and another Democratic pick-up?

4. That's interesting.
Specter has managed to survive a lot of suffering.

5. We know he'll have some repubbies,
but, we have a strong Senate to work with anyway.

6. why do you think any of them would take a position in the cabinet?
Collins was just reelected. Snowe has four years left on her term. And specter has a ton of seniority.

Also, has anyone checked the relevant state laws to see whether the governor is required to fill a senate vacancy with someone from the same party as the incumbent senator? That is the case in a number of states.

7. All good points.
Just throwing it out there. Some states replace with a special election, too.

8. We now have made friends with Powell, Eisenhower, & Leach.
The Repukes can have their coockoos with Zell Miller and Lieberman... An Eisenhower is golden... Will they go back to their dark recesses , where they will not be welcome by their cavemen piers.. ?.. As Michael Moore said of Powell, a little redemption is always in order... Powell would be our top plum in a GOP Cabinet pick.. And his cleansed soul might help us to formulate a sane Middle East Policy.

12. I like Snowe & Collins a LOT. But they wouldn't accept & leave their senate positions vulnerable.
Specter, too. Although Specter's health is also an issue.

16. So-called moderates. They aren't actual moderates
Collins and Snowe vote with the GOP over 80% of the time. They have made it appear like they are moderate.

They are both unlikely to take a position with Obama if one is offered. Snowe has already said that.
