The Reich's Latest Obama Conspiracy |
|
The newest crazy Reich-wing conspiracy (which is somehow going to save them from an Obama presidency) is that Obama supposedly faked his Selective Service Registration (since 1980 all males are required to register with the Selective Service after reaching 18).
I didn't read exactly what their ridiculous contention is, but supposedly some crazy Reich-winger has a friend who is a retired FBI agent, and who doesn't have a name, but supposedly this retired FBI agent did a FOIA request asking for a copy of Obama's draft registration. Of course, like Obama's birth certificate, they are certain this Selective Service registration is somehow a fake and/or that Obama really didn't fill out the form until this year thus meaning Obama committed a "federal crime," blah, blah, blah...
I only bring this up because I think it not only shows just how crazy these people are, but how desperate they are. They really have got all their hopes pinned on Obama's birth certificate being fake, and now his SS registration.
When I read this nonsense I have to laugh because it is so insane, but then I have to remind myself these people are buying guns at record rates and have been convinced by nuts like Sarah PaLIEn that Obama is Socialist and/or a Marxist who "pals around with terrorists."

2. The SS thing is as ridiculous as the birth certificte thing or more so |
|
He had student loans. In order to get them, men have to be registered with SS.

4. I know they don't trust McCain, and don't feel much love for Bush, but... |
|
I don;t understand how they rationalize that the Republican Governor of Hawaii, the Republican Governor's of every State Obama won, and the Republican Leadership of the Congress (which will eventually certify the Election results) are all unable or unwilling to speak the "truth" on this issue.

and that woman is a complete wack job.
Also, there are other wack jobs trying to say he's a liar because he has said in some interview or other that he was required to register "after graduating from high school," when the truth is, he wasn't required to register until the following summer, after Carter reinstated draft registration, at which time he was 18 and part of the very first wave of young men required to register.
Big deal. I remember this well--being his age--but I'm not surprised if his memory is just a bit fuzzy when he talks off the cuff about it. Jeez. Having a fuzzy memory once you hit your forties is not the same as "lying with an attempt to deceive." Besides which, if Obama says he had to register after he graduated from high school, well, technically, he's correct, in the sense that registration wasn't reenacted until after he had graduated from high school and was in his freshman year of college. Therefore, while he wasn't required to register in the years before his graduation, he WAS required to register after his graduation. He never SAID that his high school graduation was the TRIGGER for the registration requirement.
Let them waste time on this, I guess. It keeps them busy and completely wastes time they could be spending working on other mischief.

7. Why dignify a collective delusion with a response? OK, here goes: |
|
1) The state of Hawaii has declared Obama's birth certificate valid
and
2) Obama had to register with Selective Service in order to receive federal financial aid for higher education

8. I remember it well. I protested draft registration |
|
as it directly affected the men of my generation and, yes, they would have been deprived of federal financial aid had they not registered. I could identify with that, because the only thing that kept me from being in the same boat was my gender. I needed my financial aid to make it through. So did Obama, as it turns out.
Some of the young men who did not register were made examples of at that time, because they had not registered. Why not him, if he didn't register? It's nonsense.
