5. You think GOP allies bought control of media in 80s and 90s so the left can be heard?
Nah - if we hadn't had an UNSPINNABLE event like Katrina, would the public have been allowed to see firsthand the incompetence and callousness of the right wing and its agenda? Nope. We'd be talking about President-elect Romney or Allen now.

It is perfectly fair. Heads I win, tails you lose. When the Republicans win control of Washington, then of course Republicans appear on the Sunday news fest to tell us how they will run things, and when Republicans lose control of Washington then of course Republicans appear on the Sunday Yaktaculars to tell us how we will run things.

8. A prime example of the need for the fairness doctrine.
Fox and CNN are cable, but the major networks should be required to NOT be propagandists if they want to continue renting the people's broadcast frequencies.

Equal representation on news/opinion programs. Not an outrageous requirement. Actually, it's pretty much a no-brainer.

13. I remember years ago one company
could not own more than seven TV stations. Was there a limit on radio stations too? Was that part of the fairness Doctrine? I don't see how could go about regulating the political slant of each radio or TV talk show counting locals there must be hundreds of different talk shows. I think the consolidation of the media more than anything has caused the problem. What does Clear Channel own something like 2000 channels? Then you have GE one of the largest if not the largest defense contractor making big bucks from war and they own NBC, then the Repugs call it the liberal media.
The liberal media lie must be the biggest lie the Republicans have ever come up with.

19. Because 3 Republicans = 1 Democrat. Has to do with relative brain power.
Fair is fair.

They bought the media specifically so that they could implement the 3:1 ratio, they were very disadvantaged before. Actually they still are but no one wants to tell them and further hurt their feelings. They are very insecure as it is, and dangerous when they feel threatened.

So smile and nod, and maybe even give them a pat on the head now and then, or a hug if they'll let you.

But for God's sake don't ever let them have power again.
