What issues should Obama put on the back burner?
Everybody, including me, has their pet issues. We would all like for "our" pet issues to be the first priority on Day One of the new presidency. But that just can't happen. Obama has a growing to-do list and priorities must be set. When Bill Clinton tried to do too much too fast in 1993-94, it blew up in his face. Even FDR set priorities in 1933-34.

And just because an issue is put on the "B list" doesn't mean it is being discarded; it just means that it is being saved for another time. So what should be on the "B list" in the early Obama Administration.

1. He most likely won't touch GLBT rights until later.

2. I know some are saying his tax cuts for the bottom 95%
But thats money we desperately need to get into the hands of people who will spend it.

Think of it as a permanent fiscal stimulus without Paulson getting in the way.

4. I think those tax cuts are even more important now
I so far have seen no signs that it is being shelved.

5. Healthcare, Afghanistan (I hope).
Healthcare is too complicated to rush into.

Afghanistan is way too f***ing expensive.

6. Any misguided need that he has to give Republicans
the time of day. After he sets the country back on track then maybe.

7. GLBT issues... at least 1 year before he touches it
Most probably he will do tax cuts, iraq, afghanistan and healthcare first.
