ok, I admit it, I haven't been able to stomach a president on TeeVee for over eight years |
|
I was physically unable to do so without retching mentally. Even a 5 minute dose was nauseating. I found I could ONLY tolerate it in clips on the daily show or third hand in discussions here.
but something happened last night....something won-der-ful.
I listened to the entire 60minutes interview with the president elect and found I ... didn't.... need... to hurl chunks. I actually enjoyed it. What he said actually made sense (whether I agreed with it or nor).
I sighed. I unclenched.
ahhhhh....
I can finally listen to our president again.

7. They actually shared some REAL moments in that interview |
|
I have not seen a politician and his wife be REAL in recent memory since Carter.

3. I know exactly what you mean. I have to keep pinching myself, |
|
because it seems too good to be real.
A President who actually makes sense when he talks. And isn't smirking.

|
but last night I couldn't pull myself away from watching our President-elect. Mr. Obama can think and talk at the same time!!!

5. Agree-- I really tried early in the first term too |
|
But there were no press conferences, and the required-by-law State of the Union was just overt lobbying for robbing the country blind. And I don't know where that post- September 11, 2001 approval spike came from--nobody asked ME. I all jelled when he started on the Iraq thing and it was still September-mincing words, stumbling, mean, dumb, "go shopping!". After sussing out the obvious lies so quickly without having to try too hard, it hurt too much physically to listen to him ever again. It felt like I was being mugged and didn't have a twenty.
I am really looking forward to listening to the Harvard couple in the coming months. What a treat.
Hardest job in the land-- Barack's hair will be white inside of three years I betcha.
Hey Barack-- when you get in can you do something about restoring FEMA, dismantling DHS (fatherland security) and improving the security on airplanes without having to parade grandmothers in their stocking feet over dirty carpet?
And tasers really piss me off on so many levels.
Thanks!

For the first time in 8 years, I wanted to hear President Obama's weekly address, on YouTube. What a great idea.

9. My husband and I couldn't pull ourselves away. |
|
The Obamas are both intelligent, charming and seem to actually care. It was shocking to hear a head of state talk about books he had read, but I supposed Shrub had enough sense not to bring up "My Pet Goat." This is so great! I can listen to presidential addresses and news conferences again!:fistbump:

10. It's amazing to me - I look forward to seeing a political figure on TV. |
|
I have gone to great lengths to avoid any politicians for decades. My dad used to pal around with local pols for years, and I could not stand any of them. I seldom even read newspapers because I get so angry at their greed and arrogant stupidity ( See G.W. Bush). Obama as President is something I am looking forward to, and I still can't quite believe it.

14. I could only 'watch' * on mute. |
|
He was actually quite comical as long as you didn't have to listen to him. I put together a theory just watching him - he is so uninvolved and accustomed to others doing his bidding, that he is too lazy to move his lips. That is one reason why why his words are garbled and mangled...he's toooo f*cking lazy to move his lips!

18. I was thinking the same thing this morning |
|
I could not stand to watch or listen to the man occupying the oval office these last 8 years.
But when I woke up this morning and realized I missed the 60 minutes interview I was disappointed! Now I actually will be able to watch and listen to our President.
It'll be a nice change.

I had to mute it quickly, too, to avoid hearing that dumbass fake Texas accent of his.

22. Oh, me too!! I'd run to the family room and dive for the remote to change |
|
the channel. Almost broke my neck a couple of times doing that, too.
My family laughed at me. They even hid the remote once. And I tell you, that was the LAST time they tried that.
