Some hot senate races for 2010 |
Sorry, I know this is a ways off yet, but I saw some senate race talk for 2010....We have good chance to pick up even more seats...
"In short, the Democrats have good takeover possibilities in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania and maybe Florida if they can field a strong candidate. If Kathleen Sibelius runs for the Senate, they will be competitive in Kansas and if Janet Napolitano runs in Arizona, they have a chance there, too. Maybe even in North Carolina again. The best case scenario at this moment appears to be another six seats, on top of the 12 to 14 they got in 2006 and 2008. For the Republicans, the only seat they have any chance of picking up is Boxer's and then only if Schwarzenegger runs, and even then knocking off a three-term senator in the majority won't be easy. Boxer is a prodigious fundraiser, having raised $19 million for her last run. She has $3.6 million in the bank right now and hasn't even really started her 2010 campaign yet".

2. Tweety's already set his sights on PA... |
as a Dem. Eh's already started to run...he's so angry at the Republicans on his show and kisses Smerconish and Rendell's asses insufferably.

3. I can't see Tweety running if Specter doesn't retire |
If I'm correct those 2 are friends and there is no way that he would try to take down Specter.
Specter claims he is running but the guy is like 80+ years old and has had some serious health issues. So perhaps it's just a ruse for now, but I think Tweety running is all conditioned on what Arlen does. If Arlen resigns then the seat will probably go democrat unless we run a real nutjob for the seat (which I can't think of any); whereas, the Republicans viable for a statewide position are pretty slim pickings. I think I heard where Pat Toomey might go after Specter again and would definately run if Specter retires, but Toomey is a Santorum wannabe and well, Santorum is not that popular in Pennsylvania (hence his 19pt lose for his last senate run).

5. I can't see it happening but right now I'm going with the fact that he is re-running |

7. The longer Arlen Specter waits to announce his retirement... |
...the better it is for Tweety. It gives others less time to jump in.
